Birthday parties for 100 year olds are often subdued affairs, but when the centennial is a city, the festivities rock. Miami Beach, Florida is turning 100 and to celebrate, the city is throwing a weeklong party.
The highlight is Hard Rock Rising, a day long free music festival on Thursday, March 26. Andrea Bocelli, Barry Gibb and Gloria Estefan are just some of the artists featured.
Gates open on Thursday, March 26 at noon for an afternoon beach party at Eighth Street and Ocean Drive, with headliners taking the stage starting at 5pm.
But the festivities start on Sunday, March 22, with a 100-hour, non-stop festival that includes a fashion runway, concourse car show, an astrophysical concert, beachside wedding for 100 couples, naturalization ceremony for 100 new U.S. citizens and world-class tennis exhibition. All events are free.
With its soft sand, clean water and perennially blue skies, Miami Beach is a great family destination year round.
