There is nothing like casting your line in and fishing away your worries….okay, I seriously can’t say that, because I am not much of a fisherman. Yes, I go fishing, but mostly only to see the delight and excitement on my kid’s faces as I snarl at the idea of having to unhook whatever fish they have captured. By the way, if you are wondering in our house (or at least I do) we believe firmly in “catch and release”….this momma is clueless as to how to clean a fish.
Every year the Missouri Department of Conservation, (the real experts at everything I pretend to be an expert at) host Kid’s Free Fishing at several Missouri Parks. The time for Kid’s Free Fishing has rolled around again. This year’s events will be Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Maramec Spring Trout Park and Roaring River State Park. Experts (real experts) will be on site to help the youth learn, enjoy, and understand fishing. Fishing tags will be free for youth under the age of 15, unfortunately for me they go by age and not the lack of fishing knowledge.
While I am no expert at fishing, I am an expert at packing my fishing bag and I have a list of things that I highly suggest for every mom or dad to throw in their fishing bag.
- Baby Wipes
- Hand sanitizer
- Band – Aids
- Antibiotic Cream
- Fresh Fruit & Snacks
- Lots of Patience.
