The 2013 annual America The Beautiful – The national Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass is free for US military members and their dependents. If the active member is not with you a qualifying dependent my be issued one. How awesome is this military travel benefit! To qualify you must be an active member of one of the following:
To get your pass show your military id at any of the federal recreation sites that charge an entrance fee. It only take a few minutes to fill out the form and get your free pass. We got ours when we went to Yaquina Head in Newport, OR. We went out there to see the lighthouse and were pleasantly surprised to leave with a free annual pass.
Once you have an annual pass you will be able to gain free entry to any federal or state park with either the hangtag or the card they issue you. There arewell over 2,000 sites you will be able to get into for free. Some of the sites included are
- Mt. St. Helens
- Grand Canyon
- Red Rocks
- Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge
- Grand Tetons National Park
Unfortunately this offer does not apply to veterans, but veterans may qualify for a Senior Pass or an Access pass.
