If you were traveling, taking wings along is probably not the best idea. But if you have folks coming to your house for a Super Bowl party, wings are well worth the sloppy deliciousness. A tried and true wing recipe from Virgil’s BBQ in Times Square is one of the best wings recipes I’ve ever tried – and the restaurant spilled on what makes them so amazing – recipe included.

Virgil’s BBQ Super Bowl Chicken Wings Recipe
Recipe makes a wing rub for 5 pounds of wings (I like to make more and store it for later):
- 1/4c Sweet Paprika
- 2.5 TBSP white sugar
- 1.5 TBSP Texas Chili powder
- 1.5 TBSP Dry Minced onion
- 1.5 TBSP Dry Minced garlic
- 1.5 TBSP Dry Parsley Flakes
- 1 TBSP salt
Begin with fresh, raw chicken wings to a large bowl. Add Louisiana Hot Sauce and melted butter to raw wings (olive oil will substitute nicely as well). Add both garlic and onion powders to the bowl. Add Virgil’s dry Rub and mix with hands.
Marinate in the refrigerator for 24 hours before baking. Add marinated wings to a cookie sheet and add more dry rub to intensify the flavors.
Bake at 350 Degrees for 50 minutes to an hour. Have a smoker? That’s what Virgil’s uses so even better.
Add wings to a large platter and serve immediately. Really want to add flavor to your party? Serve with a side of Bleu Cheese Dressing.
