Our family has lived all over the United States thanks to the US Navy. Whenever it came time to plan our family vacations, Orlando won out every single time. Now, we call it home and I love being able to take advantage of the many military discounts available. These are some of my favorites outside of Disney World.

The military discounts at the Universal Orlando Resort are huge! And the big bonus is no blackout dates. That leaves the door wide open to plan visits around deployment schedules and approved military leave. Get ready for Harry Potter and the secrets of Diagon Alley!
Choose between a four day 2 theme park ticket or a four day 3 park ticket. The two park ticket includes Universal Studios and Universal’s Islands of Adventure while the three park gives guests the option of visiting Universal’s newest park Volcano Bay water park.
- Four-day 2 park ticket – $184 adult and $179 child (3-9)
- Four-day 3 park ticket – $239 adult and $234 child (3-9)
Discounted tickets for the theme parks can be purchased at base ticket offices or at Shades of Green Resort on Disney property.
SeaWorld offers the best Active Duty military discount – FREE tickets! Each year qualified military members and up to 3 direct dependents can get a free one-day admission ticket through the Waves of Honor program. There are no blackout dates and tickets can be bought online.
TravelingMom Tip: Note that this is the same discount available at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay and Sesame Place. The Waves of Honor program can only be used once per year and only at one location. So, if you use it at SeaWorld you CANNOT use it at Busch Gardens.
The Waves of Honor program also offers retired and veteran military personnel 50% off for themselves and additional tickets for up to 4 dependents.
My kids have always loved visiting the different zoos around the country and the Central Florida Zoo is one of their favorites.
Active and retired military service members and their families can save 20% off tickets.
Get up close and personal to your favorite celebs or be part of your favorite movie scene at Madame Tussauds Wax Museum in Orlando.
We always have a blast visiting Madame Tussauds. My teen will even put down the phone for a split second to join in the fun. Of course, she’s snapchatting most of the time. But that means it’s good enough to put on snapchat which means winning!
Military saves 10% off regular admission price on up to 6 tickets.
Travel back in time where Kings ruled and Knights battled for honor plus feast on some yummy food. This one is for the whole family. We love leaving our manners at the door and eating with our fingers while stomping our feet.
The discount for Medieval Times can vary, but it is usually around $20 off per adult prices.
Busch Gardens is located about an hour and a half outside of Orlando, but it’s worth the simple drive. Especially, if you have roller coaster fans like my kids.
Again, this is a top discount – FREE tickets for the service member and up to 3 dependents! Unfortunately, you have to make a choice between SeaWorld and Busch Gardens as the discounts are through the same Waves of Honor program.
LEGOLand is great for all ages but is a HUGE hit with the young ones and tweens. And they even have a virtual reality roller coaster that is brilliant.
Service members get in FREE with valid military id while family members can save 10% off gate prices at the park.

TravelingMom Tip: Always check with your base ticket office to see if they offer tickets at a deeper discount then what is available at the front gate. Shades of Green Resort located in Orlando is another wonderful option if your base ticket office doesn’t have what you need.
This is one discount we’ve yet to take advantage of, but let me tell you it is on my bucket list for 2019!
The Blue Man Group offers same-day discounts at the ticket offices for active and retired military members in seating tiers 1 and 2 as follows:
- $52.00 + tax (age 10 and older)
- $26.00 + tax (children 3-9)
There are AMC Theaters throughout the country and many offer military discounts. The one in Disney Springs is no different. While the saving is minimal, $1.50 per ticket and only after 4pm, every little bit helps.
Have an artist in the family or someone that just loves color? The Crayola Experience is filled with fun and creative ways to use crayons.

The ICON Orlando 360, is not for me, but if seeing the sights of Orlando from 400 feet in the air sounds exhilarating, then this is for you.
Show your valid Military ID at the ticket booth for 20% off regular admission price. Greater savings are offered on Memorial and Veterans Days.
Located about an hour from Orlando the Kennedy Space Center is an amazing place of discovery. Educational, fun and hands-on – there is so much to do one day will never be enough!
Military members can save $7 off an adult ticket and $6 off a child ticket.
I have found some places offer military discounts, but don’t advertise it. So, I always ask just in case! When heading to Orlando check with your base ticket office before purchasing tickets through company websites. Many times they have better deals or at the very least no sales tax! If you find that they don’t have what you’re looking for, check with Shades of Green Resort’s ticket office.
