Is there a better way to spend a hot summer Sunday in New York City than tasting frozen yummy treats with Sugartooth Tours? I think not.

Beginning in June, Sugartooth will be offering their Ice Cream Summer Sundays Frozen Treats Tour.

This ain’t no Mr. Softie tour, it brings visitors and natives around lower Manhattan to sample high quality ingredients in some of the best fruity frozen treats, sorbets, gelatos and of course, ice cream, in town.

The best part: you walk the calories off as you go! The two-hour tour takes you from Union Square to Soho and finally Little Italy where you will enjoy at least six tastings. I know, you are thinking, “only six?” At the last stop, my ten year-old uttered something she’s never said before, “Mommy, I don’t think I can eat any more ice cream.” But somehow she managed.TMOM Travel Disclosure

Sugartooth’s founders are Broadway performers who know the city well.  Along the tour you learn the history of each neighborhood, especially as it relates to sweet treats.

Some of their other tours include the Village to Village Downtown Cupcake Crawl, Sweeter Than Sugar Chelsea & West Village Tour and their Valentine’s Day tour sells out each year.

Practicalities:

  •  All ages are welcome.
  • Tickets are $50 (kids 0-3 are free) and can be purchased at sugartoothtours.com.  Contact the company for groups.
  • They make great gifts.
  • If it is sunny, don’t forget to bring water, a hat and sunscreen.
  • It is a bit of a trek, so for toddlers without a stroller might be too much.
  • Eat a very light lunch before you go.
