Shhh all quiet on the set… in this case quiet on the WHOLE Kualoa Ranch in Oahu while they film “Jurassic World.”
Last April I helped chaperone 90 Band Students on a trip to Hawaii, where they played patriotic songs at Pearl Harbor.
In addition to their musical contributions, we toured around Oahu including a whole day at Kualoa Ranch on the eastern side of the Island. You take small boats over to ‘Secret Island’ and play on a secluded beach area for hours.
Pulling into the Ranch there were strange yellow signs around the parking area clearly marking roads and trails we were not allowed to explore. Why?
Because they were literally in the middle of filming Jurassic Park 4 (Or so we were calling it at that point). How cool is that?! In fact the first Jurassic Park movie was filmed in parts on the Kualoa Ranch property as well.
Fast forward a full year: I had forgotten all about Attacking Dinosaurs. Until… I saw this:
The “Jurassic World” Movie Trailer is out…!
22 years after the first Jurassic Park Movie, Jurassic World is coming your way. With hot Chris Pratt as a small incentive. (BTW: Jurassica Park is the ONLY book I ever read AFTER seeing the movie and decided I enjoyed the MOVIE better than the book!) It was also the first movie I saw in ‘Dolby Digital Sound’ theaters, played on something new and exciting called a… DVD!
I know. I’m old.
But Dang! I can’t wait to take my kids to see the newest “Jurassic World” Movie opening June 12th, 2015.
How to see Secret Island and Kualoa Ranch
Viator Eco Daytrip Tours takes you to Secret Island where parts of both the original Jurassic Park and Jurassic World movies were filmed. If you’ve been there you will recognize this mountain range on Oahu, if you haven’t been there… you’ll recognize it from both movies!
Have you been to any movie filming locations?
