Fall in Illinois is a beautiful time of year. I spent most of my life here and I now I really appreciate the beauty of Fall in this are of the US. Something that wasn’t around when I was a kid was the Highwood Pumpkin Fest in Highwood, Illinois. Now, this is something to really “fall” into If you are in the Chicago area this week. This pumpkin festival in Chicago is aiming for a world record.
In a brief visit this week to the area, I saw more pumpkins that I have ever seen in one place. The scene on the streets (literally) is all about pumpkins and this year there is an attempt to light 32,000 carved pumpkins this Saturday evening! Last year was pretty close, but this year the residents of Highwood are serious about breaking the Guiness Book of World Records!
The Highwood Pumpkin Fest is a feast for the eyes, ears, and stomach. The entire family can enjoy a day of fun. So, if you are in the are from October 19-22, please check out http://www.highwoodpumpkinfest.com. I won’t be there this year, so please share your pictures if you are there!! Good Luck, Highwood!
