Nickelodeon Punta Cana is open for business! You are probably wondering if it’s a good fit for your family. Read on to find out what you need to know before you book your stay and tips from a mom whose been there.
What You Need to Know Before You Book a Stay at Nickelodeon Punta Cana
My kids and I are huge fans of the Nickelodeon brand. When I heard Nickelodeon had opened a brand new resort in Punta Cana, I knew we had to go. Reading through early mixed reviews made me wonder if the Nickelodeon Punta Cana would be a fit for my family. Turns out my family absolutely loved our stay at the resort. Here’s what you need to know before you book and why booking may be the best decision you make.
Nickelodeon Punta Cana
Upon arrival at Nickelodeon Resort Punta Cana, friendly staff hand you glasses of drinkable slime (or champagne for more discerning adults).
While Nickelodeon Punta Cana sounds like a wild and crazy place, it is perfectly designed so it isn’t one. Guests love the calm atmosphere and luxury feel of Nickelodeon Punta Cana. Parents like that the waterpark is separate from the main resort area but located only a short walk away. This means guests can opt to sing Nickelodeon songs while getting slimed or choose to chill by an infinity pool overlooking the ocean with no characters in site.
Guests also love that Nickelodeon Punta Cana is located on a secluded beach. Once you arrive, you won’t to need to leave. Families with small children will find the property small enough to walk easily but chocked full of activities for every member of the family from infants to seniors.
What Works for Families
Swim-up Suites. Nickelodeon offers swim-up suites with attached pools. Families love having the ability to relax and swim without leaving their rooms. Kids find the additional perk fun and exciting.
Free good wifi. The resort offers excellent free wifi. Guests can easily log on without having to enter room numbers. Nickelodeon does not place a limit on the number of devices. We were easily able to download movies and stream shows.
Friendly staff. The staff members of the resort are incredible. While I had read reviews that spoke of language barriers, we experienced practically no communication issues. Guests can communicate food allergy needs to a member of management or chef prior to each meal. The cleaning staff upon request is able to work around the schedules of napping infants and small children. The waterpark staff members are amazing and will make sure your kids have an excellent vacation.
Free Room Service. Nickelodeon Punta Cana offers 24-hour in-room dining included in the cost of your vacation. Take advantage and eat fresh breakfast by your pool or on your patio each morning. Prompt, knowledgeable and always friendly room service staff will meet your every need.
Free Childcare. The Just Kidding kids’ club offers daily programming including making Nickelodeon signature slime and cooking lessons for kids over 4. The club is divided into an indoor playground, a section of Nickelodeon toys, and a video game section. For $20 an hour, you can hire a nanny to take care of smaller children at the club or in your room. Our infant visited for 2 hours a day and always returned to us happy, clean and fed.
What Doesn’t Work for Families
Baby food. While the hotel offers free baby food, I would recommend bringing your own. The consistency of the packaged food is gel like and not what American or Canadian babies are used to.
Cost of Diapers. Diapers are quite expensive on-site so you will want to make sure you pack enough of them.
Room size. While the rooms are very cool, they are slightly smaller than North American hotel rooms but not comparatively smaller to most of the rooms we’ve experienced in the Caribbean. For extra room to stretch out, book a Super Villa or Swank Suite.
Day Camps and Babysitting. Complimentary daycare is only provided for kids over the age of 4.
What Else You Need To Know
Airport Transfers. Located 45 minutes from the Punta Cana airport, Nickelodeon Punta Cana is easy to reach. You need to arrange your own transportation from the airport to the Nickelodeon hotel. Nexus Tours provides well-maintained vehicles with wifi for a cost of under $20 per person return.
Aqua Nick. What truly sets Nickelodeon Punta Cana apart is the large waterpark Aqua Nick. The waterpark entertainment team that run the daily activities is nothing short of excellent. Kids and adults alike find the lazy river to be incredibly fun. Your kids will be kept busy for hours by the Nickelodeon water slides and climbing structure. Each hour or so, the entertainment team hosts slimings, character visits and even dance mobs. Be warned, your kids won’t want to leave as there is always something fun coming up next on the daily schedule.
The Perks of Sensatori. Nickelodeon Punta Cana is shared with a property called Sensatori. The properties share common space and access to the Vespa Spa as well as Sensatori children’s show Playhouse Live. For kids under 6, the show with its Bed Bugs puppet story time sets the perfect tone for bedtime. Older kids will enjoy watching the show and then playing with hula hoops and balls in the courtyard.
Deals, Deals, Deals! Great deals are available on vacations to Nick Resort Punta Cana. You can sign up online to receive a list of deals directly from the resort. The site is currently offering discounted rooms through Winter 2017 and for early 2018 bookings. You can check out all current deals for Nickelodeon Punta Cana here.
The rooms are exceptionally clean and welcoming. The nods to Nickelodeon are restricted to the orange accent colors and kid-sized Nickelodeon blimp. The flat swim-up suite has a separate room with a king size bed and smart television. All rooms have a huge soaker tub in a large modern bathroom with double sinks.
