Vacations like the all-inclusive Royalton Negril, Jamaica resort make traveling with kids almost worry free. One upfront price includes gourmet meals, childcare, entertainment and more. With eveything included, leave your money in your wallet and your wallet in your room. All you have to do is have fun and enjoy your vacation. Here are tips and insight to consider before booking.
An impressive panoramic lobby and a chilled cocktail set the tone for the perfect Caribbean getaway at the all-inclusive Royalton Negril, Jamaica resort. On 2 km of white-sand beach, this posh all-inclusive property provides accommodations for families, while still providing a draw for adults too. It effectively combines the best of both worlds – time together as a family and time alone and everyone is happy.
What Works for Families:
Childcare
Children ages 4 to 12 play in the supervised Clubhouse Kids Club. While not popular in America, the club features guest appearances with on-screen characters, Max & Ruby™. The area has a playground and the kids pool and splash pad is just outside as well.
For 13 to 17-year-olds, there is the Hangout Teens Club with activities and PlayStation lounges, billiards, ping pong tables and plenty of safe, supervised outdoor fun that’s more age appropriate.
Food & Drinks
Meals and drinks are included. All six fine-dining gourmet restaurants are very modern and offer a variety from Tex Mex to Italian. Reservations are only required at their Hibachi location, Zen, but you can still sit at the sushi bar without one.
For families that would prefer to dine in, room service is available 24/7 and can be ordered right from your TV. However, after waiting for an hour to receive my breakfast order, I called down and was told they never received it. Fortunately, they did rush my order up, so that I was still able to grab a bite before my planned tours for the day.
VIP TIP: For a truly unique dining experience, visit C/X Culinary Experience, Royalton Negril’s private chef’s table. Using molecular techniques your private chef will create culinary works of art to take you on what can only be considered an adventure for your taste buds from appetizer to dessert.
In addition, the lobby has a Cafe serving gelato, sweets, and lattes that you can have there or take to-go.
VIP TIP: Order a drink called The Landshark from one of the outdoor pool bars.
Entertainment
Other amenities consist of beach access, live entertainment, evening performances, and an outdoor pool with a swim-up bar. Plus, a spa, gym, tennis and water sports are offered too.
I spent one fun evening in their SCORE Sports Bar and Lounge where I caught a Yankees vs. Red Sox game while sipping on included champagne. Royalton has a Sports Event Guarantee, which ensures top games and important events from the US and Europe can be watched live at the resort.
Rooms
Best of all, the rooms are definitely brag-worthy and guaranteed to make your social media feed blow-up with jealous friends commenting. Upscale suites feature balconies, custom beds, luxe linens and whirlpool tubs. All have sofabeds, minibars and coffeemakers, as well as free Wi-Fi and satellite TV.
Upgraded suites add sea views and private swim-up pool access. Just take a look below at how gorgeous these look:
What Doesn’t Work for Families:
The resort is new and beautiful, but it still has some growing pains. Check-in is slow and my bracelet, which also works as a key fob, did not work the first time. During my stay, we experienced several short-lived power outages as well, but they never lasted too long and usually occurred later in the night.
Furthermore, the service and staff attentiveness is lacking. Previously, I stayed at both of Beaches Resorts two locations in Jamaica with my family, which I love, but found Royalton more modern and hip. However, it lacked the service excellence we experienced at Beaches.
Bottom Line:
Overall, I really enjoyed my stay and was impressed with the design, accommodations, high tech amenities, cleanliness, and food offerings at the all-inclusive Royalton, Negril resort. I recommend this property for those traveling with older children – tweens and teens and for couples and friends traveling without kids too.
