In just five short years since it opened, The Westin Riverfront Resort and Spa at Beaver Creek located along the banks of the Eagle River in Avon, Colorado, has been racking up the accolades:
2010-2013: #1 on Condé Nast Traveler’s list of “Top 50 Ski Hotels” in North America three years in a row.
2012: #1 on Condé Nast Traveler’s list of “Top 40 Resorts in the West” Reader’s Choice Awards.
2011: #2 on Condé Nast Traveler’s list of “Top Resorts in the U.S.” Reader’s Choice Poll.
2009: Parents Magazine “10 Best Snow Resorts for Families.”
It all starts with the pet-friendly, AAA Four Diamond Westin Riverfront’s guest philosophy of creating a place to relax, rejuvenate and fulfill. The moment you arrive and glimpse the spectacular mountain views from the two-story-high Grand Lobby windows, you’ll want to sink into a comfortable chair beside the enormous, stone, two-way fireplace with a glass of wine or cocktail from the lobby Wine Bar and soak in the chill mountain vibes.
Enjoy free cookies in the lobby at 4pm for Westin Cookie Time and s’mores by the fire at one of several fire pits on the deck overlooking Eagle River. S’mores kits are sold at the Wine Bar for $15. A bit pricey, but, we couldn’t resist a little self-indulgence if only just for the memories.
Located off the lobby is the colorfully fun Kid’s Club we have ever seen. I know my daughter would agree, as she never wanted to leave. Treat yourself to dinner at the Westin’s exquisite contemporary Latin kitchen, Cima while the kids are fed and entertained at the Kid’s Club.
Sending your kids to ski school? Arrange to drop them off at the Kid’s Club in the morning at 8am for the Ski School Carpool. For just $30, the staff will take care of transporting them to the mountain and checking them in at ski school, then, picking them up and engaging them in crafts and games until you return for them up at 4:30. What a pleasure it was to be able to spend our morning at our leisure before heading out to the mountain ourselves and then returning to find our daughter playing happily at the Westin Kid’s Club.
In addition to traditional guest rooms, the Westin offers finely appointed guest residences ranging from studio suites to three-bedroom condominiums with everything you need to feel at home including gas fireplaces, custom kitchens and washer/dryers. I looked forward to the Westin’s Heavenly Shower® and Heavenly Bed® following a day on the slopes, and right after a dip in one of their three infinity edge, riverside hot tubs. There is also a 25-yard saline-based, year-round heated lap pool. All are located right outside the doors of the Westin’s award-winning Spa Anjali and recently completed state-of-the-art Athletic Club.
It doesn’t get any more convenient than the Westin’s ski valet and Riverfront Express Gondola. Check your skis and snowboards with the ski valet when you arrive at the resort and find them right outside the back doors next to the gondola that takes you directly to Beaver Creek Mountain when you’re ready for them. They’ll be brought in for you every night – no lockers necessary. In the summer, spring and fall, access amazing fly-fishing, hiking, whitewater rafting, mountain biking and golf via the same gondola, located on the banks of the Eagle River.
When you’re ready to explore Beaver Creek Village, or even near-by Vail Village, a free shuttle will take you there. Shopping, dining, live music and special events year-round await you at this world-class destination in the Rocky Mountains.
