The Wedgewood Lodge in Breckenridge, Colorado

Wedgewood Lodge living roomLocation is king when it comes to a family ski vacation. Nothing beats being able to walk across the street to a ski lift in the morning and ski right back to your lodge in the afternoon. Then, when you’re ready to enjoy some nightlife, walk just three blocks to the center of it all: dining, shopping and entertainment on historic Main Street.

That’s what makes staying at the Wedgewood Lodge in Breckenridge, Colorado a no-brainer.

Because our daughter was just learning to ski, we chose to take the free in-town bus that stopped at the Snowflake Chairlift across the street every 10 minutes, directly to the base of the ski resort and the beginner area. And if you need to rent skis, you can do that there too.

Besides the convenience of location, the Wedgewood Lodge also offers the comforts of home in the size of studios, 1, 2 and 3 bedroom units. Our cozy, two-bedroom, two-and-a-half bath townhome had it all: gas fireplace, free Wi-Fi, 32” flat screen TV, cable, DVD/VCR, stereo/CD player and private balcony, which in February was piled high with five feet of snow. The kitchen was roomy enough, and fully equipped with everything we needed to prepare and serve our own meals, including a full size stove, oven and microwave.

Wedgewood Lodge dining roomAt the end of each day, we looked forward to soaking in the indoor Jacuzzi which was always just the right temperature. An outdoor Jacuzzi and dry sauna are also available. Then, it was back to our room for board games, compliments of the Lodge. You can find a selection of games, movies and books in the spacious Eagle’s Nest Vista Room located just off the lobby. A stone fireplace and comfortable seating along with mountain views from the outdoor patio provide a relaxing atmosphere for group events such as a retreat or family reunion.

So much comfort and convenience make the Wedgewood Lodge a well-earned, popular choice among visitors. And did I mention the underground parking? Your car stays dry and warm whether you choose to use it or not. Ski lockers are also located in the underground garage so you don’t have to lug your dripping wet equipment back to your townhome or condo.

AWedgewood Lodge bedroom 10% discount is always offered to returning guests that stay a minimum of two nights. Check their website for other specials currently running.

Christina and her family take advantage of her husband's airline employee standby privileges whenever and wherever they can. Even flying as far as Denver to Dubai and back on standby passes. Traveling across the country is currently taking a back seat to discovering all there is to see and do in beautiful Florida though. But, with Orlando as their jumping off point, more travels to new destinations are never off the table!
