Soon to make their official debut at Universal Studios Hollywood are two major attractions – The Wizarding World of Harry Potter on April 7, and The Walking Dead in summer. Although the grand opening for Harry Potter is in April, the soft opening enables visitors to Universal to see the attraction now. The Walking Dead attraction is based on AMC’s television series “The Walking Dead”. When it comes to special effects fused with the latest technology, there’s no better place to showcase thrilling attractions than Universal Studios Hollywood, which is both a working studio and movie-based theme park.
Universal Studios Hollywood has enhanced its working studio/theme park with two new major attractions – The Wizarding World of Harry Potter and The Walking Dead. Even before the grand opening on April 7, park guests can already walk along the cobblestone streets of Hogsmeade village, take a spin on two Potter-themed rides and dine at new restaurants. The Walking Dead attraction, based on the popular television series of the same name, debuts in summer. If you think creeping through The Walking Dead attraction during the studio’s annual Halloween Horror Nights is scary, you’ll be blown away by the special effects and zombies in this expanded version.
Wizarding World of Harry Potter
Upon entering the land through an archway, Hogsmeade bustles to life with shops, restaurants, Butterbeer carts, and two rides as only Universal Studios Hollywood can produce. Potter’s signature ride, Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, features a hyper-realistic 3D-HD design to fully immerse guests in the storyline. The multi-dimensional attraction features a groundbreaking robotics ride system fused with elaborate filmed action sequences and immersive visceral effects. Guests wear Quidditch-inspired 3D goggles during the spiraling and pivoting 360-degree journey along an elevated track. In addition, the family coaster, Flight of the Hippogriff , opens as Universal’s first outdoor roller coaster.
The Walking Dead
The walk-through Walking Dead attraction will be one intense and realistic experience, giving guests a chance to come face-to-face with zombies. Located within a new, custom built structure just inside the theme park’s main entry, the attraction features a mix of Universal’s spectacular special effects, state-of-the-art special effects and live performers.
The popular television series, “The Walking Dead,” depicts the story of survivors in a post-apocalyptic world overrun by flesh-eating walkers. Now in its sixth season, it’s been the top rated show among adults 18 – 49 for the last four years.
