When United Airlines left my three kids and me stranded in the Denver airport for 10 hours, I literally jumped for joy when I found out there was a USO in the Denver airport.
The Rocky Mountain USO is located in Terminal A at the north end of the A gates bridge up on the 3rd floor. It’s next door to the American Airlines Club (they share an entrance). The USO is open from 6:00 AM until 10:00 PM. They do not have overnight services.
Here you will find food, drink, video games, TV a foosball table, a quiet room for sleeping, and a play area for small children.
I was able to put our bags in a locker and sit down and relax. One of my kids sat with me reading, one played video games, and one played in the kids’ area with some other children. When they got hungry they could go up to the snack bar and pick out some food. For those of you that fly by yourself with kids, you understand what it means to be able to relax in an airport.
The best part of our 10 hour USO visit was when I looked up and saw some old friends from five assignments ago, back in 2005. I had not seen them since and had not met their youngest child. It was such an unexpected treat to catch up and see their children.
