Sedona, Arizona is a beautiful to explore and visit. However, some of the resorts and hotels in the area are very expensive. That shouldn’t prevent you from planning a trip. The Holiday Inn Express Sedona is a family friendly hotel and has several perks for guests. There are 7 reasons to stay at the Holiday Inn Express Sedona.
My family and I recently visited Sedona, Arizona. While I enjoy and appreciate luxury resorts, I’m also very mindful of my family’s budget. I take many factors into consideration when booking a hotel. Location, amenities, price, and cleanliness are high on my list. When my husband and I decided to plan a trip to Sedona, I researched different hotels and resorts. I found that many of the hotels are very expensive and this could potentially deter families from visiting. It even deterred us from visiting, and we’re from Arizona! However, I was pleased to read that the Holiday Inn Express Sedona had recently been renovated. We found that it’s a great option for families, especially in light of everything that is included in the hotel stay. Here are 7 reasons to stay at the Holiday Inn Sedona.
As a member of IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group), we receive a free night hotel stay once a year at an IHG hotel, including Holiday Inn. We decided to use our free night to stay at the Holiday Inn Express Sedona. However, depending on the season, a night’s stay at the hotel could cost between $180-$220/night. While this seems expensive at first, it’s on the lower end compared to the resorts that cost over $300+/night, especially when you factor in everything else that’s included in a stay.
We try to stay at hotels that include a complimentary breakfast as often as possible. Not only does it save us time while traveling, but it also saves us money. The Holiday Inn Express Sedona had a variety of options available, from pancakes to pastries. Our son, who is about to turn 4 years old, doesn’t eat a lot when we go out to eat. As a result, we end up taking his leftovers back with us, or leaving them at a restaurant. With the complimentary breakfast, he’s still able to eat cereal, drink milk, and munch on a muffin.
Upon check-in, I asked if we could be upgraded to a larger room. They were able to accommodate our request, and our room ended up being very large. We had two televisions in the room, and a sitting area that included a couch that converted into a bed. There was plenty of space for my son to walk around and play with his toys. And it gave my husband and I some breathing room, too. Because the hotel was recently renovated, everything looked new, and the rooms were extremely clean.
The hotel is located outside of downtown Sedona, near Bell Rock. It’s about a ten minute drive to downtown Sedona, but it’s well worth it. The drive itself is absolutely beautiful, and the hotel is in a relatively quiet location and far enough away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Sedona. It’s also close to many places to see like Cathedral Rock, Bell Rock, and Chapel of the Holy Cross.
Microwave and Refrigerator
In my experience, most hotels do not have a microwave, which is disappointing. As I mentioned, we often come back to the hotel with leftovers when we do go out to eat. We were pleasantly surprised to see that the Holiday Inn Express in Sedona did have a microwave in our room. It also has a mini refrigerator, which is also helpful in trying to save money.
Holiday Inn Express Sedona has a pool. This is an added bonus, especially in the hot Arizona months. Unfortunately, my family did not use the pool since my son’s arm was in a cast at the time. However, we appreciate that it’s an option and available to those who do want to spend time in the pool.
Some hotels charge for parking. The Holiday Inn Express in Sedona did not charge a fee for parking. We stayed there mid-week, so there were plenty of parking stalls for us. However, the weekend may be more crowded.
