As I sit here, my feet up and netbook in lap, my Tinys are dozing peacefully in the next room. We’ve had a busy day of fun-filled, sun-filled Arizona adventures! There have been homeruns and hot tamales, shady seats and some serious shopping.
Now we’re relaxing comfortably at the Deer Valley Country Inns & Suites which we’ll call home sweet home for 3 days.
Deer Valley is a lovely little nook slightly north of Phoenix – small enough to be quiet and friendly, large enough to have a Target (which I have visited twice already – I know, it’s a sickness). It’s an excellent place to base an Arizona getaway for a few reasons:
Being just outside of Phoenix means leaving the traffic behind and having easy access to the surrounding areas.
Our accommodations are just 2 minutes away from the Deer Valley Rock Art Center! It’s the perfect place for young families to spend an afternoon strolling the nature trails, deciphering petroglyphs and enjoying indiginous gardens galore.
We’ve been shopping in Downtown Scottsdale, caught a Spring Training baseball game at the Maryvale Stadium and even tried the local cuisine at La Parilla Suiza. All without the stress of navigating a metro area. For a great list of family-friendly Phoenix area activities, go here.
Less Crowded, More Family Friendly
Hotels on the outskirts of major cities tend to be less crowded and very family-friendly. We’ve had the pool practically all to ourselves thus far! Plus, the hot breakfast Country Inns & Suites provides each morning has been relaxing and unstressful, even when my tinys weren’t practicing their best table manners.
There’s more Arizona fun to come so don’t go too far!
Disclaimer: Country Inns & Suites provided our accommodations during our visit to Arizona, but did not financially compensate us otherwise. My opinions here are honest and genuine.
