Get ready, the dead are coming. To Universal Hollywood, that is! Beginning in Summer 2016, you’ll be able to get a taste of what post-zombie-apocalypse life might be like. The new permanent attractions at Universal Studios Hollywood will bring to life the most popular cable TV show in history – AMC’s The Walking Dead.

Walk Among the Walking Dead at Universal Hollywood

The zombie-themed walk-through attraction was announced by Chris Hardwick during his talk show, The Talking Dead. According to Hardwick, the attraction will be an entirely new structure that will mix live performers with animatronics and special effects to create one of “the most intense” experiences for Walking Dead fans. The attraction will be open to park guests 13 and older – much to the dismay of my 12-year-old daughter. So I guess my family needs to wait another year to plan our trip to Universal Hollywood.

The Walking Dead attraction has been a mainstay of Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights for several years, and due to its wild popularity and the show’s incredible success, Universal Hollywood decided to make it a staple in its park. I wonder… can a Walking Dead attraction at Universal Orlando be far behind?

Check out Universal’s announcement video:

My son and husband visited Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights a couple years ago and reported that the Walking Dead features were some of the most realistic, scariest stuff they’d ever experienced. We are a family that watches The Walking Dead as an educational series – always discussing what would be most important in an apocalypse. Weapons? Food? Medicine? Physical strength? And while I am always on the edge of my seat during the show, I also find myself thinking “What would I do?” I think I’d be most like Maggie.

What about you? Leave a comment and let me know what character you think you’d be. And are you already planning your visit to Universal Hollywood!?
