Located in the heart of downtown Fort Worth, Texas, the Sheraton Fort Worth Hotel & Spa has the largest  bedrooms in the city, making it a great choice for large families. Recently remodeled, we stayed a few nights at this location and would definitely return with our whole family.

What Works for Families

TMOM disclosure graphicLocation

The Sheraton Fort Worth Hotel & Spa is located in the south part of Downtown, right across the street from the tranquil Fort Worth Water Gardens.  It is within walking distance of most downtown attractions. Also, the FREE public transportation, Molly the Trolley, stops here and can take families all over downtown Fort Worth.

Convenience

The hotel is right off the Interstate system, making it easy to find and easy to get anywhere quickly.

FREE WiFi

There is Free Wireless Basic Internet access available in the lobby, public areas and guest rooms.

Pet Friendly

The hotel is pet friendly for animals up to 45 pounds. Furry guests receive a welcome bag, plus a complimentary Sheraton Sweet Sleeper Dog bed.

What Doesn’t Work for Families

While the hotel does have a pool & whirlpool, it is a bit small and indoors.  This may be an advantage, allowing for swimming year round, but don’t expect a large outdoor pool area to relax in the sun.

The rooms are quite spacious, but the max number allowed in each room is 4. Portable cribs are available to use. Larger families can get an adjoining room to fit everyone.

Rates: $$ (The weekend rate for the 2 Queen room was $185 when I visited in March 2015.)

The Details

Downtown Fort Worth is a quick 30 minute drive from the DFW International Airport, making the Sheraton Fort Worth very easy to get to.  The hotel is working to provide a fun, family atmosphere including such things as activity books upon checkin.. During the summer,  “dive-in” movies will be playing in the pool area each weekend night.

The Sheraton Fort Worth is also upgrading its technology. Guests will soon be able to check in via an app before they arrive at the hotel and use their smart phone to gain access to their rooms.

The Hotel

The Sheraton Fort Worth recently underwent a multi-million dollar renovation that included all new carpeting, furniture, and modernization of fixtures in all of the guest rooms and suites. The renovation also included a new fitness center, hotel lobby, lobby cafe and updated bar & restaurant.  The facelift is noticeable and very well-done.

The hotel’s onsite spa, Spa Beaubelle offers a full range of beauty treatments, including manicures & pedicures, facials, body treatments and massages. Spa Beaubelle was voted best spa in Fort Worth, so it’s a great way for mom (or dad) to unwind.  It’s a beautiful facility, offering the tranquility of a large-scale spa.

As much as the renovation was needed, what I like to know are 2 things about the rooms before deciding to stay somewhere. Are the rooms comfortable and are they quiet?

The bedding in the 400+ guest rooms is all new, plush and very comfortable.  Each room offers the signature Sweet Sleeper Bed with plush-top mattress, down pillows, fine linens and down-filled duvets. I love when hotels have beds that are just as comfortable as sleeping on a cloud.  No matter how hard I try to make a bed like this at home, I’m never successful.  That’s why I love it so much when traveling.

As the hotel is located in downtown Fort Worth, you’d expect to hear a great deal of traffic noise. Thankfully, this was not the case.  Except for the occasional rumbling train (our room faced the south), the room was very quiet.

Don’t expect a great view from any of the rooms, as the hotel faces a big Interstate, a bus station, and a convention center. However, each room is tastefully decorated with a modern, Texas theme.

We had the opportunity to experience lunch while staying at the Sheraton. Though it was for a meeting event, the Restaurant at the Sheraton’s food comes from the same executive chef.  We were pleasantly surprised at how beautiful of a presentation each of our entrees had–not easy when you’re serving 50 people at a luncheon meeting.  From the table-made guacamole to the beef tenderloin and shrimp, every thing came out fresh and warm.  And very well made.

The hotel offers a full breakfast, lunch, & dinner menu.
