Here’s how to make the most out of this desert oasis. Check out the entertainment and discounts Fairmont Scottsdale Princess is offering up this summer:
The resort has five pools scattered throughout the 65-acre property, but Sonoran Splash, the resort’s 6,000 square-foot watepark, is where your kids will want to be. Two twisting waterslides, fountains, cabanas and poolside games make it a place where you can spend the whole day. Every weekend afternoon, resort staff lead supervised games and activities, including tie dye t-shirt making, limbo and underwater bingo with music from DJ Splash. Other daily activities include badminton, volleyball and bocce ball. For the littlest family members there’s a zero-entry deck area as well as a large, shaded sandbox complete with Tonka trucks and beach toys, make it a perfect spot for the littlest family members, as well.
Friday and Saturday nights haved added entertainment throughout the summer. The Techno Glo Party turns the Sonoran Splash pool into an outdoor disco with black lights, lasers, fog, LED hula hooping, glow-in-the-dark bubbles, and techno dance music from DJ Splash from 8 p.m. – 10 p.m. Pretty groovy, huh?!
Complimentary Dive In Movies are offered at the resort’s South Pool on Friday and Saturday nights. Kick back on an inner tube to watch family friendly fare. Poolside movie snacks are available as well.
As if a disco party and floating flicks weren’t enough, there are also fireworks on Saturday nights at 9pm.
Trailblazers Kids Club
The secret to a happy family vacation is making sure everyone has time to pursue their own interests, at least a little while each day. Maybe Mom and Dad wants to read a book or have a romantic meal. The Fairmont’s first-rate Kids Club, allow Mom and Dad to have a little alone time.
The colorful club is staffed with friendly young people, as well as some other locals you don’t get to see as often… native desert animals like the bearded dragon and tarantula.
Normally the resort charges $35 for a half-day or $60 for a full-day session. But in the summer, included in the hotel’s daily resort fee of $29, up to three children per family receive half-day admission to the Kids Club, which is a savings of more than $100 per day!
Well & Being Spa
The ultimate indulgence for Moms and Dads is a treatment at the resort spa. Well & Being Spa is a 44,000 square foot sanctuary with a waterfall grotto, roman-style bath pool, steam and sauna. There’s also a peaceful scenic rooftop pool. I experienced a 50 minute hot stone massage. It was an other-worldly experience that left me relaxed for the rest of the day. No screaming kids or teen tantrum could spoil the lasting effect of that one hour of bliss.
Summer is a great time to try it out for yourself. The resort’s offering the “Stay & Spa” package from May 1- September 3, 2015. The special promotion includes your room, plus your choice of one 45 minute facial, massage, pedicure or body wrap, starting at $240. Massages normally start at $190, so that’s a deep discount. You’ll also have access to the spa fitenss center and fitness classes, a perfect way to keep up your exercise routine even when it’s sizzling outside.
And don’t forget to bring the family dog or cat along, as the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess treats the family pet like royalty as well. They actually have a dog ambassador, a yellow lab named Bixby, greeting guests in the lobby. Notify the hotel ahead of time and your room will come with a “Pet in Residence” door hanger, a plush pet bed, food and water bowl, a food mat, pet toys and welcome treats.
With gas prices lower than they’ve been since 2009, there’s no reason not to load up the family and head for the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess.
