The brand new Sheraton Georgetown Texas Hotel & Conference Center, located half an hour north of Austin, offers just the right blend of world-class service and small-town charm. This luxury hilltop hotel in Georgetown, Texas, will knock your socks off with sweeping views of the San Gabriel River, a gorgeous outdoor pool area, and delicious craft beers and cocktails from the hotel’s restaurant, Brix and Ale.
In desperate need of a weekend away, I recently escaped to the Sheraton Georgetown Texas Hotel & Conference Center, a mere 25 miles from my home in Austin. After a stressful week, a one-night stay at a luxury hotel was just what the doctor ordered. It really is amazing how a steak dinner and an evening of peace and quiet can make most everything right in the world again.
Georgetown, Texas
Despite its proximity to Austin, Georgetown is not a suburb. It is a quintessential small town with a personality all its own, boasting the Most Beautiful Town Square in Texas. With market days, parades, holiday festivities, farm-to-table restaurants, wineries, and cultural events galore, there is no shortage of things to do and places to explore in Georgetown, without ever venturing south to the capital of Texas.
Sheraton Georgetown Texas Hotel and Conference Center
A visit to the Sheraton Georgetown can remind you that there is good in the world and that life is worth living. Does that sound a bit over the top? Well, after the week I had proceeding my visit, the dinner date with my husband at the Sheraton’s restaurant Brix and Ale was nothing short of magical. We enjoyed New York Strip Steak, grilled asparagus, and great conversation. It was a perfect evening and the stress of real life melted away with the butter on the warm rolls.
After dinner, my husband headed home to put our children to bed, and I stayed in a King Suite alone, watching reruns of Law and Order. It was glorious.
In the morning, I headed out to explore Georgetown. I enjoyed Market Day on the Downtown Square, then headed a few blocks away for a stroll in Blue Hole Park. It was a gorgeous day.
After grabbing a bite to eat at the nearby Monument Cafe, I headed back to the hotel for bike riding along the San Gabriel River. The Sheraton Georgetown offers free bike rentals, including kids’ bikes and bikes with training wheels. You just fill out a form and away you go!
My only regret during this weekend getaway was that I forgot to pack a bathing suit. The heated outdoor pool looked glorious and I was ill prepared. Next time!
