West Palm Beach isn’t a city most people consider visiting when they head to south Florida, preferring instead to hit up hot spots like Miami or Fort Lauderdale. Just about an hour north of Miami and 45 minutes from Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach is a charming city that doesn’t have the same hustle and bustle feel of those beach towns yet is great for those of us with young kids.

We visit every year because we have family that lives nearby so I was thrilled to hear that local restaurant team, TITOU Hospitality, recently opened its latest culinary experience with Paneterie, a bakery and café inspired by the idyllic neighborhood patisseries of Europe.

Paneterie’s menu features fresh-baked bread, pastries and artisanal sandwiches made on premise. Owner Thierry Beaud, founder of TITOU Hospitality, who also owns and operates PB Catch Seafood & Raw Bar and Patrick Lézé Pâtisserie in Palm Beach, also  owns Pistache French Bistro, located less than a block east of Paneterie in downtown West Palm Beach.

“So many of my most cherished memories growing up in France or from my travels around Europe have been indulging in the simple pleasure of a fresh-baked croissant or pastry at one of the many charming cafés set along city streets,” says Beaud. “We have long desired to bring that experience here to West Palm Beach because I know that our residents and visitors alike would appreciate that same simple pleasure found in something as fundamental as fresh bread, and I’m very happy to finally realize that dream through Paneterie.”

As is becoming very popular in cities across the country, locals and visitors are craving that hometown, warm and retro ambiance in which to enjoy the simple pleasures of high-quality, just-baked goods, foods, coffee or what have you with good company. Paneterie offers oven-fresh croissants, artisanal breads and Danish baked throughout the day at the store as well as specialty items such as macarons, chocolates and finer pastries which are made daily in Paneterie’s commissary kitchen.  Outdoor bistro styled seating reminiscent of French coffee and pastry shops make it easy to catch up with friends

A full menu of coffee and tea options are available. The concept for the bakery is based on the idea of providing high-quality, fresh products at affordable prices, with pastries starting at $1.75 and sandwiches starting at just $6.

Paneterie is located at 205 Clematis Street, next to the Palm Beach Dramaworks. It will be open 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., seven days a week.  More information and the café and bakery’s full menu will soon be available on its website.

If you happen to visit West Pam Beach soon, consider checking out the Lion County Safari (about 20 minutes away). We visited in July and the kids (and adults) loved it because it was so interactive. There are several free things to do in Palm Beach County worth checking out as well.
