Living in Miami makes Naples our go-to escape to the quieter side of Florida. Staybridge Suites in Naples offers a place for families to reconnect comfortably and be near favorite Naples attractions. Easy days at the beach, or busy museum or zoo visits are but a drive away.

Staybridge Suites in Naples Florida

A quick trip to the Florida West coast is always a great time for us to reconnect as a family.  There is nothing like creating memories over some shelling and beautiful sunsets at the beach. We went to mark Labor Day and high-five each other for surviving two weeks of the back to school mad dash. Our home for the long weekend was Staybridge Suites Naples.

Staybridge Suites Overview

The Staybridge Suites in Naples is located a few blocks away from the main attractions of Naples. Those include Tin City, The Naples Zoo, The Naples Train Museum and the luxury shopping street called Waterside Shops.  The serene and beautiful North Beach is less than five minutes away by car, and amazing restaurants are just a brisk walk away.  The hotel feels and operates as a small hotel.  The rooms were all sold out, but we never experienced a crowded area, although the breakfast buffet was very busy.

On our late night drive from Miami to Naples, my 8-year-old fell asleep.  I knew already that every room at Staybridge is a suite. I called ahead to ask if someone would pull out the sofabed for us. That meant I could quickly make the bed and get him tucked away in no time.  Once at the front desk, the moment they knew I was the mom who called, they breezed us through check-in and hurried us to our room where the sofa bed was pulled out and made for us.  Can you say GRATITUDE?  I associate the extra steps to the fact that most of the very friendly hotel staff  have worked there for more than 15 years like Mylady, Oliver and Kannika.  It is home for them too.

What Works For Families

The moment we started to get acquainted with the hotel, we realized that it is designed for long stays.  That being said, short stays are welcomed but will leave you wanting more time at this hotel.  We were at Staybridge Suites for two nights, and quickly made ourselves at home.  The entire stay I kept my chill mode because regardless of what I might have forgotten, I felt like the hotel will most likely have it for me.staybridge-naples-ammenities-cool-moms-cool-tips

The hotel has a cozy contemporary feel, mainly due to the two-faced fireplace that stands right in the center of the common areas. A fireplace is a rarity in South Florida.  The highlight of the breakfast buffet for my son was being able to make his own waffles and pancakes.  By the way, try and get there for the late crowd (9:30- 10:00 am) because otherwise getting a table to eat comfortably is not easy.

  • A medium sized pool and small hot tub
  • Free breakfast buffet seven days a week
  • A few minutes car ride to beaches
  • Pet-friendly – ask for the pet package so your pooch is welcomed with snacks and a toy
  • Free laundry room

The hotel offers a reasonably priced pantry with snacks, microwavable meals and some toiletries, as well as games and movies to borrow.

What Doesn’t Work For Families

  • Because it is pet-friendly, allergies flared up for our little one.
  • No dining table or nook to sit down to eat

To sit for meals in your room, you can potentially use the desk, which is pretty big, but you only have one chair.

The room

The suite is good for a family of 4.  If there are more of you, you will feel cramped pretty soon.

There is a sign that states that if you are staying less than seven days, you get a “light housekeeping service.”  If your stay is longer, you get a full housekeeping service once a week, plus the light service.  Honestly, I did not see a difference comparing with other hotel stays.  The beds were made, towels freshened and toiletries replenished every day.  I guess they didn’t vacuum every day?  As a matter of fact, one night, at the witching hour, I was busy in the kitchenette warming up leftovers.  I washed the pot, fork and plate I used.  The next day, everything had been put in the dish washer for a second wash.

During our second night at the hotel, we stayed in for a late movie night enjoying HBO and the complementary bag of microwavable popcorn. It was just perfect after a day at the beach.  By the way, I did know we were going to a beach city destination and managed to leave all of our gear at home. Staybridge actually had chairs and umbrellas to lend out, and we did not have to reserve or fight anyone for them.  It seems they have plenty in stock to share away.  But I digress, back to the room:

  • The room boasts a fully stocked kitchenette with a fridge, mini dishwasher, and microwave
  • Ample closet and dresser
  • Satellite TV with kid friendly channels
  • Staybridge Suites recipe suggestions to inspire your cooking
  • A big desk station with plenty of outlets and charging stations
  • Small flat TV
  • No tub

One of my pet peeves when traveling is that the hair dryers at hotels are for decor because they can’t do a thing for my hair.  I was surprised when I tested out the one at my room.  It was powerful enough to have me thinking, “Way to go Staybridge!”

Additional Amenities

I appreciated the detail of the lime water station right at the lobby that greeted and refreshed us from the hot Florida sun.  While the fitness room was deserted the entire time we were there, there was plenty going on at the BBQ and firepit areas and the poolside Tikki hut bar.  If you want to grill, the staff will provide you with BBQ utensils.  If work is in your mind, the business center is very limited.  Only two computers and a printer are available.

The Neighborhood

The hotel sits on a main road.  To its right, there is a beautiful bank building and to its left a shopping strip where we discovered amazing small Italian and seafood restaurants. A supermarket and a pharmacy store are in it too. Attractions are near by if you drive.  I don’t recommend a stroll under the heat or Florida humidity, there is nothing really to walk to other than the shopping strip.

Staying in Staybridge Suites Naples

Several families reserved three and four rooms to share the long weekend with cousins and grandparents.  The atmosphere was festive and very family friendly.  After a while we were sharing potluck style and watching out for each other’s kids.  I think Staybridge Suites in Naples is conducive for people to get together this way with the ample common lounges, BBQ and fire pit areas.  So much so that the hotel encourages it even for their business guests: on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, the “social hour” is in effect from 8 -10pm.  While there is no restaurant for dinner, the hotel provides “Taco Night” or “Burger Night” on these days for guests.

I do believe Staybridge Suites in Naples is an ideal home away from home for families  as well as the perfect base camp for business travelers.

Have you been to a hotel where making friends is encouraged?

Never been to Naples but it surely would be awesome to go. Staybridge sounds like a lovely place to take the much needed family time shame there is no dinning table

Yes it is a shame. But you can solve by eating by the pool. Better yet, plan a BBQ down there 🙂

I am all up for hotels that value families and that offer lots of things to do for the parents and the kids or for the whole family. I think this is an awesome place to stay in!

This is one of the best places to spend quality time with the family and just enjoy each other’s company. I love how peaceful the place is, really. It’s quiet and it’s perfect for catching up.

I can’t say I have every been to a hotel where making friends is encouraged. I kind of like the idea because you never know where people are from, so you might learn something new.
