SandestinConsidering heading to the beach during winter break? We love traveling to the Florida Panhandle, a popular family vacation destination for Middle Tennessee families. We typically stay in Navarre Beach, located between Ft. Walton Beach and Pensacola. I’ve been vacationing in that area since I was a teenager and I love the sugar white beaches and gorgeous Gulf water.

Last summer my husband and I visited Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort for the first time with our two young daughters and we fell in love with the resort and the family friendly amenities. Not a golfer? No worries. There are tons of activities and attractions for non-golfers at the resort.

While we typically head to Gulf Coast in the spring or summer, winters are mild in the area and there are tons of fun family activities during the holidays. Besides beautiful beaches and great golfing, Sandestin is known for its outlet shopping. Nearby Silver Sands is the nation’s largest designer outlet center, making Sandestin a great trip for girlfriends who love to power shop.

Holiday festivities kick off at Sandestin the weekend after Thanksgiving with the annual Christmas Tree Lighting and Weekend Celebration Nov. 26 featuring Santa himself. Through Sandestin’s Santa Tuck-In program parents can schedule a personal visit from Santa to their resort villa or condo.  Not only will Santa stop by for a visit, but he’ll read a story and leave a present. This memorable experience benefits Toys for Tots.

Other Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort holiday events:

Ring in the New Year Village Style Dec. 31

I can’t think of a better place to ring in the new year than at the beach. Baytowne’s New Year’s Eve festivities will feature tribute bands to some of America’s favorite musical artists, such as Elton John, Bon Jovi, and Journey. A fireworks show will light up the Baytowne sky as the clock strikes midnight.
