I’m convinced, luxury and Ritz-Carlton are undeniably synonymous. My running buddy, Renee, and I recently took a one-night roadtrip to stay at the Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island, the host hotel for the Zooma Florida Half Marathon. From the second we drove on the property we were met with a warm, welcoming southern charm. True to the Ritz-Carlton reputation, this hotel had everything you’d expect from a posh, luxury resort.

Renee and I shared a club ocean view room which had plenty of space for the two of us and an absolutely breathtaking view of the water.

Some amenities of the resort include:

446 guest rooms, each with a private balcony
Ritz-Carlton Spa
Four restaurants and a lobby lounge
Tennis courts
A private 18-hole championship golf course
Full service beauty salon
Ritz Kids – a supervised program for children 5-12 designed to entertain and educate them with themed activities
Indoor and outdoor heated pools with whirlpool
A children’s pool and playground
48,000 sq feet of function space, plus oceanside outdoor venues
24 hour fitness center

My Tips and Picks:

I LOVE the club level. The lounge features a dedicated concierge and continuous culinary offerings throughout the day (breakfast, light snacks, hors d’ oeuvres, beverages and sweets). The service was exceptional. They took care of us with some pre-race eats early Saturday morning before the lounge opened. It was definitely first class.

We ate in the Eight Burger Bar and Sports Lounge. The food was delicious and plentiful – perfect for sharing with friends. The burger was juicy and flavorful; and if your an onion ring lover, try them –  you won’t be disappointed.

I didn’t have my kids with me but I checked out the schedule for Ritz Kids and wanted to stay and play myself. They had craft classes, story time, and the Our Space Family Game Room featuring video games, air hockey and movies stays open daily from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. They also have private pirate bedtime tuck-ins available on Friday and Saturday nights.

Plan to stay more than one night if you can. I didn’t want to leave after the race. The spa was calling my name and so was one of the cozy couches at the courtyard terrace fire pit.
