The Pike Place Market is something that I hope to see someday but I realized that I don’t have to travel all the way across the country to the Pacific Northwest to see a great fish market. I just had to drive a few miles. Granted, there might be as much excitement and I didn’t see any fish fly, but there is plenty to see at Joe Patti’s.
When you first walk in, take a wander down the ice packed boxes to decide what you want. Then you grab a number and wait for it to be called. Be ready to give your order. They are kind but they are ready to grab what you want and move on to the next customer. There is definitely a feeling of hustle and bustle but I kind of liked it.
There are all sorts of fish and other seafood from which to choose. You could also pick up some crawfish etouffee or even some gator! We decided on some large mahi mahi steaks that we used in delicious fish tacos. I also bought some shrimp that I steamed and ate for lunch the next day.
Be sure to stop in the shop where you can pick up some fresh, hot bread. If you are hungry after shopping for seafood, you can grab a bite to eat in the Sushi Bar. If you have a sweet tooth, get a cup of gelato.
Rest assured, we will not wait as long in between visits to pick up some fresh fish from Joe Patti’s.
