HyattHillCountry1There are many great places to stay when visiting San Antonio with your family. If traveling with children, consider the Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Spa in the northwest of San Antonio.

The Hyatt Hill Country encompasses of course a spa as well as a golf course. But with three young children, the 4-acre water park was our favorite. It features a lazy river, a baby pool, activity pool, and, for those wanting a bit more peace and quiet, and adults-only pool.

HyattHillCountry2The lazy river was our favorite play place at the Hyatt Hill Country. We tubed around several times. The older boys (7) were just tall enough they could walk or swim easily around even without a tube. The littlest (3) rode with me or in a small inflatable. Just off the river is a nice beach area.
Even though we were there in the height of summer and the Hyatt Hill Country was packed (and it seemed noone was there without children!), there was always room to swim or dig.

We also enjoyed the playground, tetherball and ping pong during the cooler times of day. Bikes are also available for rent (free for half an hour). There are a number of planned activities throughout the day, for both adults and children. We did the three-legged race and face painting. And in the evenings we went out for s’mores at the fire pit and then the movie on the lawn (til the little one started fading!). Oh, and there is even a camp available for children, either half or whole day.

The rooms are extremely comfortable, with all the usual amenities, including a fridge. A resort fee added to room rates allows free services such as wifi and free local calls.

HyattHillCountry3For eating, food can be ordered pool-side (during the afternoon, you can float up on the river to a cocktail stand), and at a couple different diners/cafes, as well as of course room service. With a small child, we chose to order from the General Store so we could eat in our room, getting pizza one time and hot dogs and hamburgers another.

Another plus is the proximity to Sea World. Downtown and Six Flags are also not that far away.

Our stay was sponsored by the Hyatt Hill Country Resort and Spa. Opinions are my own. If you go to Hyatt and book this hotel, Traveling Mom will receive a referral fee.
