When most people think of a family trip to Orlando, they think of a trip to Disney World. Kids and adults flock to all things Disney for the magic, the pixie dust, and the sense of adventure every year in droves. What if there was a place where a family could still be close to Disney and the other Orlando area attractions, AND soak up the dolce vita, in a blissful setting for both parents and children? The JW Marriott Orlando Grande Lakes knows family travel is more than just for children, and caters to parents that want to combine family fun with personal relaxation and luxury. During a recent trip to Orlando for the runDisney Princess Half marathon, I had the opportunity to experience first hand why staying at the JW Marriott Orlando was a perfect destination to give busy moms and dads a break, while still catering to children.
Three Reasons the JW Marriott Orlando Grande Lakes makes parents and children happy
For Disney fans, the proximity from the JW Marriott Orlando is easy and fast. The property even offers complimentary shuttles to the parks for hotel guests. The ride to the Magic Kingdom takes about twenty minutes and although the packed line for the ferry looks never ending, it only took ten minutes to get on the ferry boat to the Magic Kingdom itself. (A tip: although I am a fan of starting early in the morning, there were no lines at all at the entrance for tickest and the ferry around mid day).
Once you have made the children (and adults) happy with their time at Disney, the entire family will want to relax in the sun at the glorious pools. What some people don’t know is that the JW Marriott Orlando Grande Lakes is a shared project with the Ritz Carlton Orlando, so guests can use the amenities at either property. I was traveling without my family during my stay, so I soaked up as much poolside time as I possibly could. The spa at the Ritz Carlton is another not to be missed spot on property. Whether you are traveling alone or with your family, there is nothing quite like healing spa waters and a massage to remind you of the good life.
Of course, no vacation is complete without delicious meals for every taste bud. The JW Marriott Orlando and Ritz Carlton Grande Lakes have THIRTEEN dining options (and that is not even counting room service!). Whether you are ordering room service for dinner, eating at the Vitale Spa cafe after your luxurious spa treatment, or enjoying a burger at the Lobby Lounge, the fresh ingredients (everything served is made in house) and great service will make you never want to leave.
I am still thinking about my beet and celery juice that no matter what I put in my juicer, is just not the same in my kitchen. From the pools, to the spa, to the food at the JW Marriott Grande Lakes, I cannot think of a better way to enjoy the good life than fostering happy children and relaxed parents.
Disclosure: I was a guest of the JW Marriott Grande Lakes during my stay. No other compensation was received. All opinions are my own.
