I woke up on November 1 and it was 34 degrees in New York City. It was so cold on Halloween that witches and goblins were bundled in down parkas and towering ‘Cat in the hat” hats were pulled down over ears for warmth. I realized we needed to head south.
Then I got an email – Family Time Out packages at the luxury Jupiter Beach Resort & Spa, on the beach in Palm Beach County. Unlike those great deals that are only available until the beginning of December, this one goes through January, 2011, so you can spend the holidays in the warmth.
Jupiter Beach Resort opened the Little Loggerheads Kid’s Club, for ages 4 to 12, in August. The club is open 10am to 1pm on Saturdays and Sundays, and 6 to 9pm Fridays and Saturdays, so parents can get in a dinner, or a tennis game and spa treatment during the day. The first time we put our two daughters in a kid’s club, we decided to check out our room’s amenities, in private. Now we have three kids.
If you do go to the spa, you might spend the whole three hours there, relaxing in the waterfall serenity room, with an organic tea and dark chocolate (there is also fresh fruit for those feeling less indulgent). I could just sit all day in my robe here, reading a book, but can’t use the relaxation and steam rooms without booking a treatment. My personal fave is the hot stone massage; there are also body scrubs, facials, and a rejuvenating eye treatment using diamond powder.
Family Night Out Package start at $179 a night and include breakfast, milk and cookies when you check-in, a welcome bag with stuffed animals and sunscreen, and one child free at the kid’s club.
