Hotel Review: Fountain Beach Resort- Daytona Beach, FL

The Fountain Beach Resort in Daytona Beach has an old school beach hotel vibe. It reminded me of the beach vacations I would take with my family as a kid. There is nothing pretentious about the resort. Instead it delivers exactly what you need for a trip to the beach: a comfortable place to stay, a fabulous beach, and lively pool and beach entertainment.

What Works for Families:

Kitchenette

Each room comes with a kitchenette with a microwave, mini fridge, sink, coffee maker, and dishes. This made our stay much more enjoyable. We stopped by a nearby Publix to stock up on milk and other kid friendly foods.

Cribs

Pack and plays are provided at no extra charge.

The Price

With rooms starting as low as $109 a night, a large family can afford to get several rooms. A beachfront room in Florida at this price is an absolute steal!

Amenities

  • A free continental breakfast is provided.
  • Free wifi
  • small work out room
  • Onsite pool and hot tub
  • Onsite bar and restaurant with live entertainment

What you need to know:

Bring your own beach towels

The hotel has beach towels for guests to use, but they ran out during our stay. We had to use our tiny bath towels. The staff was accommodating and gave us extra towels.

Each room is only big enough for a family of 4

If you are traveling with more than 4 people you should book two rooms or see about booking a suite that has a separate bedroom and living room.

Wear your wristband

Since the hotel is on a popular part of a public beach, they require guests to wear wristbands to access the pool. The bar has entertainment and food so it attracts a lot of beach goers that aren’t guests of the hotel.

Breakfast food won’t last long

We are big fans of free breakfasts. We will always take what is offered! This one was no exception. While we enjoyed the cereal, toast,  bagels, and yogurt, they seemed to be running low when we got there. This wasn’t a problem for us since we had breakfast items in our room. You may want to make sure to have extra food in your room if you eat a lot for breakfast.

Rooms:

Room start at $109 a night and include all the amenities.

Each room has two queen beds, a TV, a kitchenette, standard bathroom, and a balcony.

The kitchenette really did make the trip much more enjoyable for us. It’s nice to be able to feed the kids while everyone else gets ready for a day at the beach.

The kitchen at Fountain Beach Resort has a mini fridge, microwave, sink, coffee pot, toaster and dishes.

The hotel also offers suites that offer a separate bedroom from the living room. This would be nice to do if you want to be separated from the kids.

The Beach

The beach is the highlight here! The Fountain View is right in the middle of all the activity in Daytona Beach. You can rent golf carts to ride up and down the beach or you can drive your own car to the access point just a few feet from the hotel.

The wide beach is perfect for hanging out by the ocean all day long. Beach chair rentals and food stands are available for hotel guests and regular beach goers. My kids never stayed still long enough for us to stay in chairs. We threw our beach bag down on the sand and chased after the kids.

The Pool

The pool overlooks the beach and is right next to the bar that also serves food and has live entertainment. It’s also wheelchair accessible, which is always a plus for moms with strollers! Make sure to bring those extra towels from home.

Nearby attractions and dining options

If you get tired of the beach, the Boardwalk is only a quick walk away. It took us less than 10 minutes to walk there not including a quick Starbucks stop along the way. The Boardwalk offers many dining options from sitting down at Joe’s Crab Shack on the pier, or grabbing a quick hot dog. There are also lots of entertainment and dining options at the Ocean Walk Shoppes located by the Bandshell at the end of the Boardwalk.

If you don’t mind a short drive, there are lots of fun educational opportunities at Ponce Inlet only 10 minutes away from the hotel. We loved exploring the lighthouse and the Marine Science Center. Racing North Turn is a fun place to stop for lunch or dinner on the way back to the hotel.

Overall

If you are looking for a great place to stay on the beach that won’t cost a fortune, Fountain Beach Resort is the way to go. It’s close to many of the must see attractions in Daytona Beach and it’s got a fun and lively atmosphere that is perfect for family vacations. I hope everyone enjoys it as much as we did.
