Before traveling, I need to have everything planned. I need to know where I’m going, where I’m staying, and what my schedules look like. Everything must be reserved and confirmed. This to me is as fun as the actual trip. Trip planning is one of my biggest passions.

This year we chose Georgia as our destination for a romantic getaway. We do a couple’s trip every year while visiting my parents in Florida. We love having some big people conversations, enjoying dining experiences that last more than one hour and staying in hotels that cater to adults.

My husband is a burger lover. I’m not, but I wanted to treat him to burgers, so one of the first items on my search were burger joints. And one kept popping up over and over again!

So our first night in Atlanta was reserved for Flip Burger Boutique.

Why Flip Burger Boutique is Way WAY More Than a Burger Place

TMOM disclosure graphicFirst I must say that I don’t really like it when the staff is overly friendly, but in this case the general manager, Steve, was the exception. In my opinion, a chat with him needs to be part of the menu special.

The man knows about burgers and fries. He was also very entertaining and a fun person. He made our night even better. (Note: the secret to this was that we arrived late and there weren’t too many people. That meant that he was able to relax and chat longer with us.)

It was time to talk about the food! One thing that I learned was that this wasn’t an ordinary burger place. If you were coming here, forget everything you know about burgers and milk shakes and make sure you go with an open mind.

Milkshakes – When we got to our hotel in Atlanta, we dropped off all of the bags and told the owner that we were going to have dinner at Flip Burger. She immediately said ‘You have to try their milkshakes.’

When we asked why she replied, “Because you will never have milkshakes like these in your life.”

We listened to her and got some milk shakes. My husband had the Krispy Creme milkshake (Krispy Creme is a popular donut chain in the U.S., particularly in the South). Flip Burger basically took five Krispy Creme donuts and turned them into a milk shake. It was insane how delicious it was.

I went. for the Nutella and Burnt Marshmallow milkshake. Forget about how funky and scary it sounds. This tasted like marshmallows roasted while camping with a touch of nutella. It was really good.

Burgers – There are soooo many different options that I simply must back and try a different one each time.

We were only two so we couldn’t order a lot of options but they recommended the sampler special. In it you get three small versions of different burgers per person. Since we were told that they were smaller we decided to get two orders each. But it wasn’t the best idea. If these are small I don’t want to know what the regular ones were like.

Flavor – the meat was really fresh and the flavors blew us away. The burgers were so creative! Each burger comes with a unique combination of toppings. The long list of possible toppings included smoked mayo, Coca-cola ketchup, BBQ sauce, flip sauce (their secret sauce), fresh veggies, avocado puree, soy truffle vinaigrette, different cheeses and more.

We weren’t able to finish all of our burgers because we wanted to make room for the side dishes. These were also amazing.

Sides – Again I had a hard time choosing among the many sides they offer. But they were one of those restaurants that offer samplers of their most popular choices. It included: Vodka Battered Onion Rings with beer mustard, Beef Fat Fries with smoked mayo and Coca Cola Ketchup and Sweet Potato Tots.

In conclusion, this was the best burger place we have ever visited. Now I think that no one will be able to top this!
