6 Reasons Crane’s is One of the Best Family Friendly Hotels in South Florida
Those looking for family friendly hotels, especially if you will be visiting South Florida, should check out Crane’s Beach House. It is a cozy hideaway hotel in the laid back Delray Beach, Florida, community. It has 28 charming guest rooms and villas. The villas are particularly attractive to families because they are huge, bright and come with full kitchens. From the welcoming staff who work really hard to make sure everyone’s needs are met to the community feel of this boutique hotel, you will feel more like you are visiting funky relatives in a beautiful place rather than just staying at a nice hotel. Here are my top six reasons to choose Crane’s:

1. Live like a Hipster in Deray Beach
Delray Beach is in the greater Miami metropolitan area, located north of the city of Miami. It is also practically next door to the uber-luxe Palm Beach. It’s like the chill, slightly artsy, fun little sister to the posh and refined Palm Beach. It is a place where children and dogs are always welcome. (Maybe even the later before the former.) This is a place where you seldom have a need to change out of flip flops and beach attire. For families, it is a vibrant and intimate place where you can simply let kids be kids and not worry too much about judgmental looks.
Crane’s Beach House is off the Main Street running through Delray Beach and is one of the best family friendly hotels in the area. There are dozens of restaurants and shops within walking difference. There are also some art galleries, bars, and nightclubs if you can get away for a date night or just stroll the area any time of the day or night to get a taste for this eclectic town.
2. Lots of Extras
Crane’s Beach House has some value-added benefits built in that are especially important for families. Their complimentary continental breakfast offered just enough choices for everyone to start the day off right. Cereal, fruit, yogurt, bagels, pastries, juice and coffee were put out each morning under the covered patio and were replenished often. The hotel also had complimentary cookies and other treats in the business office and they were more than happy to share them with the kids (even several times a day). We didn’t take advantage of them, but the hotel also offered free use of their bicycles. There were no kids bikes though.
3. Beach Adjacent
While not directly on the ocean, the hotel is also just two blocks away. It is an easy walk as long as you reduce the amount of beach paraphernalia you bring with you. Crane’s Beach House offers really nice beach chairs and umbrellas which you should definitely bring to the beach with you. It will save you upwards of $40/day to not have to rent anything at the beach and the ones Crane’s Beach House offers are probably nicer anyway.
4. Amazingly Friendly Staff
For those looking for family friendly hotels with a more home-like feel, Crane’s Beach House will be a good fit. The staff was just so friendly. Each of them really wanted to make each guest feel special and valued. They were always ready with a smile, helping hand, or casual conversation. The staff worked together to make everyone’s visit the best it could be. I was there when they were bending over backward to accommodate a guest who needed ADA accommodations. I saw them go above and beyond what they had to do even though I don’t think the guest was even aware of the extra effort. But they did it anyway.
5. Family Friendly Accommodations
For families, Crane’s offers villas that allow you to spread out. They have one and two bedroom suites with full kitchens, balconies, and a separate living room. The two bedroom suite we stayed in also had two bathrooms!
For families, having a full kitchen with full size refrigerator, oven, and all the dishes, pots, pans, and utensils included to cook just about anything. We stopped by a nearby Publix and picked up a few things to make lunches and dinners to save money and time. It seems simple but having a freezer so I could buy ice cream and keep it cold, as well as freeze water bottles to bring to the beach, was useful and cost and time effective too.
6. Pool Time!
There are two saltwater pools at Crane’s Beach House, both of which are good for families. They are big enough to have fun but not so big that it’s hard to watch the kids and keep them safe. The max depth is 6 feet for both of them. I liked the sandy beach area of one pool as it gave the kids a chance to play in the sand when they grew tired of the water. This is especially good for families like mine who have little ones who are not full swimmers yet and may not feel comfortable in the pool for long periods of time. Since the hotel is a boutique one, there are not crowds of people anywhere. The pools especially felt like our own private oasis.
Crane’s Beach House is one of the coolest, funkiest, most laid back of all the family friendly hotels I’ve ever visited. It offers a neighborhood feel, affordable prices (especially when the amenities are taken into account), and is full of a staff that does their best to take care of you. For an off the beaten path feel, without actually going off the beaten path, Crane’s Beach House is the way to go!
