Most of the family friendly Atlanta hotels also offer rooms much bigger than you would get in other major cities and are often affordable enough to splurge on two of them so you can have extra space. For those headed to the Big Peach anytime soon, here are six family friendly Atlanta hotels just waiting for you to visit!
6 Family Friendly Atlanta Hotels
1. Loews Atlanta
The Loews Atlanta hotel is a rare find. A great family friendly Atlanta hotel as well as a great hotel for people without kids too! (Perhaps it is the spot for your next kid-less vacation with your spouse or girlfriends!) A place that works for both these groups is pretty impressive and the Loews Atlanta hotel does it all!
Located in Midtown, this hotel is a short walk from Piedmont Park and the Fox Theatre. From delicious southern food offering with healthy kids’ menus to offering connecting rooms to presenting each child with an activity book upon checking in, kids are not an after thought here. The hotel employees were all super nice to my kids, even when they were running around. I love that I could relax and not worry (too much) about people judging my kids or how many of them I have!
2. Sheraton Atlanta
The Sheraton Atlanta is conveniently located in the heart of downtown Atlanta. Its within waling distance of all the top Atlanta tourist attractions like World of Coca-Cola, Georgia Aquarium, College Football Hall of Fame, Children’s Museum of Atlanta and CNN. Last year this hotel completed comprehensive renovations. While it retained the historic open lobby and many other characteristics, the rooms are now more modern and suited for families.
One of my favorite things about this family friendly Atlanta hotel is the indoor/outdoor pool with a retractable roof. Lush greenery surround the heated pool, making it seem like an oasis any time of year. Also splurge a bit and upgrade your room for access to the Sheraton Club Room. With daily food and drink offerings plus space to relax and enjoy the great view it is worth it. The Sheraton Atlanta hotel is a great backdrop for a family getaway.
3. Hyatt Regency Atlanta
Every US president since Johnson has stayed at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta since they opened their doors in 1967. While you can soak in the history while walking through the lobby, it does not feel stuffy or old in any way. The Hyatt Regency Atlanta hotel is still one of Atlanta’s finest hotels set on historic Peachtree street in the vibrant downtown area.
The hotel completed a $65 million dollar renovation in the last few years. It is fresher, updated, and includes more offerings than ever before. And, it is affordable! For a special treat visit Sway, the restaurant on-site. While their southern fried chicken is delicious, it is the nightly “Pie Bar” that had me drooling. A dessert buffet featuring local, in season ingredients as well as perennial favorites. This is one time you will definitely want to save room for dessert. At under $10 per person, it’s a great deal for families!
4. Omni Hotel at CNN Center
The Omni Hotel at CNN Center is a family friendly Atlanta hotel jewel. This downtown hotel has two towers, one of which is located directly above CNN Center, the world-wide broadcasting home for the news channel. There is also an immense food court which the rooms overlook. The North Tower has the more updated rooms. Ask for a park view for a bird’s eye view of Centennial Park.
The Omni Hotel at CNN Center is connected to the Phillips Arena, Georgia Convention Center, and the Georgia Dome so it is one of the most convenient hotels to stay in if you are attending an event at any of those places. It is directly across the street from Centennial Park and a short walk to all the tourist attractions in the downtown area.
5. Ritz-Carlton Buckhead
For a posh yet family friendly hotel in Atlanta, the Ritz-Carlton Buckhead is a great choice. Located in the tony Buckhead neighborhood, it is a short walk from some of the best shopping in the city at Lenox Square Mall and Phipps Plaza. Legoland Discovery Center is also near by (in Phipps Plaza mall).
From being greeted with a VIK (Very Important Kid) bag at check in, to the fresh fruit and lemonade in the lobby, to the friendliness of the staff, this Ritz-Carlton strives to meet the needs of families. This luxury hotel is worth the splurge on the rooms.
6. Mandarin Oriental Atlanta
The Mandarin Oriental Atlanta is located in Buckhead on Peachtree Street. It is as luxurious as you would image a hotel from this brand would be, but it is also comfortable. There is no pretentiousness by the staff or even other guests. Rooms are extra large so families have room to spread out. One of my favorite details about the rooms at this family friendly hotel in Atlanta is the black out shades so kids will hopefully sleep in a bit!
And if you are celebrating a birthday here (like I did) then be sure to let them know when you book your room. I was greeted with lots of happy birthdays and they even sent a decadent cake up to the room as a surprise. For a extra splurge, take a respite in the spa too. It is heavenly!
Each of the family friendly Atlanta hotels are unique onto themselves but they all offer amenities specifically for families. From luxury to affordable, from downtown to midtown to Buckhead, there’s something for everyone.
