Having some adult time is essential for maintaining a healthy marriage. So even if you only get a few free hours without kids per month, it is important to leave the house and enjoy it. Also, the one thing that can make or break your romantic getaway is the place you choose for dining. Below is a guide to some of the best places for dining on a date night in Palm Beach.
Were you aware of the rumor that says that Palm Beach is the most expensive zip code in the US?
The truth – or lack of it – behind the rumor isn’t too relevant to me. What matters is that it probably means that in Palm Beach you will find world-class service pretty much everywhere you go. That applies to restaurants, beaches, stores and places to visit.
That’s why during my latest family visit to Florida I booked a couple of hours when my parents could get some alone time with their grandsons and my husband and I could go on a romantic dinner in Palm Beach.
What Makes A Dining Experience Special?
We’ve all had those nights when you know just know that you are not having just another dining experience. But what makes those nights stand out from the others? I personally believe that it is a combination of things.
- The energy of the place – I’m not sure how to describe it, but it is something that you feel as soon as you walk in. It can be the most beautiful restaurant, but if the energy isn’t right, you simply don’t feel comfortable.
- The service – The attitude of your waiter/waitress making you feel welcome and like you could stay all night.
- The food and drinks – They can’t just be average.
My Favorite Places for Dining Out Date Night in Palm Beach
A dining experience in Palm Beach is almost guaranteed to be a good one. There are tons of amazing restaurants in the city. For this short romantic getaway, I was looking for a place where I could have an amazing experience with great food and drinks. I wanted the restaurant we visited to be an elegant and fun place where we could enjoy good ambiance but still be able to have a conversation.
In short, it was time for a truly memorable experience.
After listening to recommendations from friends and family, I chose PB Catch, a true Raw Bar.
Originally I chose this restaurant for its seafood, but I also admired their focus on sustainability. They work only with sustainable and responsible sources.
I’m so glad we went there. Before even realizing it we had already spent four hours there. We usually stay for about two hours at restaurants, but we were just so comfortable and enjoying each other’s company so much that time flew by.
We started with drinks; they were fantastic and one better than the other. The appetizers were small enough for you to get a good flavor and enjoy their salads.
But it turned into an experience when we kept receiving different smaller dishes, that come out slowly. This allowed us plenty of time to taste them all and digest before the next course comes out. Three hours after sitting down, the best part arrived – dessert.
But that isn’t the only good restaurant in the area. Through the years we have been able to visit many more, the ones I would recommend for a romantic Getaway are:
1. Echo – This elegant restaurant is the place to visit for delicious sushi and other Asian dishes from Thailand, Korea, China and Vietnam. Their food is all about bold flavors and exoticism. You will find it at the Breakers Hotel
2. Flagler Steakhouse – Another amazing option offered at The Breakers is Flagler Steakhouse. My husband and I had an amazing experience in it. We had great wine, the best onion soup I’ve had so far and exquisite steaks.
3. Bice – It is the restaurant where I have had my best Italian food experience to date. It is so stylish. This is also a place to enjoy great wines, amazing desserts and most importantly Italian food prepared in a Tuscan style.
Top Things to Do for a Romantic Getaway in Palm Beach
As memorable as the perfect dining experience can be, no date night is complete without some kind of activity before or after dinner. My top choices are:
Beach Time – Spending some time at the beach and staying there until the sun sets is the perfect way to relax and get into a more romantic mood. It will help you forget all about the craziness of traveling with kids. Plus it is the cheapest option, as all you need is a blanket and each other to enjoy the view and an adult conversation.
Stroll Down Worth Avenue – If you enjoy shopping, checking out stores or maybe having some coffee before the actual dinner, Worth Avenue is a great place to visit. It is beautiful for just walking along and enjoying each other’s company.
Cultural Activities – Entertainment and culture are some of the many things that makes West Palm Beah famous, so why don’t you catch a show at Kravis Center for Performing Arts or at Palm Beach Improv Comedy Club. If you are a fan of artwork you can also check out Norton Museum of Art.
Paddle Boarding – If you manage to start your date night early, planning a fun activity that is new for both of you can be a lot of fun. Paddleboarding is one of those easy and fun activities. Plus it is offered by tour companies in West Palm Beach.
These are my recommendations for an amazing and memorable date night in West Palm Beach. It is clear proof that you don’t need a whole lot of time to be out with your husband or wife to be able to keep the romance alive.
