SerenitySpaDid someone say “spa”? It’s a popular treat for most moms and often a place that we go to escape with our girlfriends, but did you ever stop to think he might like it, too? That’s right, my husband, Napoleon, a former college football player and an all-around manly guy, is more than happy to take a trip to the spa. In fact, it was Napoleon who introduced me to the benefits of a good professional massage.ProductReview

To celebrate his 45th birthday, Napoleon and I visited the newly opened Serenity spa at the Omni Hotel CNN Center in Atlanta. I’ve written about the hotel’s previous spa after spending an afternoon there with my girlfriends and was excited to experience the upgraded facility with my man. A few days before our visit I attended the grand opening media reception for Serenity and had the chance to get a sneak peek at the luxurious redesigned space.SerinitySpaSuite

Napoleon and I escaped the kids and our suburban-reality on a short Saturday afternoon trek into the city. Upon arrival, we enjoyed lunched a lovely lunch in a private suite at the posh Omni Hotel CNN Center followed by a 50-minute couples massage. The suite is positioned down the hall from the actual spa but welcomes you with the same soothing ambiance – the soft music, the glowing candles and that inviting, relaxing aroma that instantly helps you exhale the moment you step through the door.

Lunch at the Serenity Spa
Lunch was delightful. It was just enough food to fill you up, but light enough for you to enjoy the spa experience afterward. Their exclusive menu created specifically for Serenity features four dishes appropriately titled Earth, Wind, Water or Fire. Napoleon chose Water – fresh shrimp, lightly poached with fresh avocado and red bell pepper served on a bed of fresh Bibb lettuce, served with a tangy citrus vinaigrette and a distinctive 15-grain croissant; and I noshed on Earth – tender grilled chicken breast served with a flavorful mango salsa, edamame beans, fresh asparagus, and a distinctive 15-grain croissant. The other choices included vegetarian SerenitySpaLunchlettuce wraps and an assortment of raw nuts and vegetables that also sounded delicious. The mango smoothie was the perfect compliment to our lunch – it was refreshingly sweet but light. It’s a must if you choose lunch. In fact, I’m tempted to ask for the recipe. The lunch option at the spa can be added to the massage for $25 per person.

Relaxing Couples Massage
After we finished our leisurely lunch (about 45 minutes slipped by), Hugo and Suzanne, our massage therapists, arrived to hand-deliver 50-minutes of pure bliss. Even though it’s a “couples” massage, the actual massage is still separate. Both of us had our own therapist who catered to our individual preferences. It was fun to share the space with my husband and unwind from life’s everyday stresses together. The couples massage is featured on their spa services and is simply the cost of two massages combined. They do have two additional specialty packages for couples – one features an overnight stay.

SerenitySpaCouplesServices Abound at Serenity Spa in Atlanta
Serenity offers a great selection of treatments and therapies including Facials, Make-up Services, Massages, Body Treatments, and Gentle Hair Removal. Nail care was nixed from the list of previous services, but with all they offer I didn’t miss it. The spa is not only for Omni guests; it regularly provides services to outside clientele. Gratuity is already added into the service fee for convenience so there’s no searching for an ATM or fumbling for cash to tip. There’s also complimentary valet parking for guests receiving spa treatments which relieves another stressor and adds to the pampering experience.
