There are so many cool things to do in Atlanta, Georgia, that is makes a great weekend getaway.

It is home to fabulous restaurants like the famed, Mary Mac’s, known as “Atlanta’s Dining Room” by the Georgia House of Representatives. Many a celebrity has dined there and you can get authentic Southern food, that can be directly applied to your hips and thus make you a more appetizing entree for the fish should you choose to dive with the whale sharks and a scary giant grouper like my friend Viv and I did at the Georgia Aquarium.

You can also visit the Coca Cola Factory located right outside the Georgia Aquarium, where one can taste the different Cokes from every different country around the world. You can also take photos outside the actual vault that contains the well-guarded secret Coke formula and see original Normal Rockwell Paintings.

Then just across from the Georgia Aquarium is Centennial Park where the 1996 Summer Olympics were held and Gladys Knight sang “Georgia on my mind.”

Lastly if you are too lazy to walk, you can zip around down on a Segway, a two-wheeled, self-balancing battery powered electric vehicle invented by Dean Kamen. (The cost of these babies is anywhere from $2,000 to $5,000 bucks!).

You can get all this Southern hospitality in three days and come home with one heck of a fish story.
