You have probably heard that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. This is true for me. Well, technically not for me, but for my kids. They are both extremely picky when it comes to food, but can have breakfast without a problem. In fact, I started to think that they can eat breakfast three times a day.

So I can’t let anything disrupt our breakfast time, not even when we travel. I need to make sure they get all of the protein and vitamins that their little bodies need. That makes it easier to get through a very bumpy lunch into dinner time.

That’s why I always try to make breakfast a fun experience during our trips. And eating at cool, new places is half the fun. That’s what I was searching for as I planned my trip to Florida when the lovely ladies over at Hernando County Tourism board – Tammy and Ruby – recommended Leslie’s Bistro.

DisclosureTMOMWhen we arrived, the owner (Leslie) was getting an outdoor space attached to the restaurant ready for a pig roast at noon. The energy was up up up. The event seemed to have a BBQ meets racing cars theme. There was even a band practicing.

The good thing was that we just had a tour of the Daytona International Speedway, so my boys were already in a racing mood. We had no problems during the wait time between ordering food and for it to come out.

The breakfast had a lot of southern touches thrown in, something that we weren’t used to. This made the experience a lot more fun.

I ordered corn beef hash. It is their homemade specialty. I don’t think I’ve ever tasted something like it before. It was delicious.

My boys were extremely happy with their French toast platter that also had some bacon on the side. A yummy treat.

Leslie’s Bistro was the perfect way for us to start our day and to re-gain some energy between the speedways and the world famous Weeki Wachee Mermaids.
