RiverPlace Hotel a Family Friendly Place to Stay in Portland, Oregon

RiverPlace Hotel, a Kimpton hotel,  is one of the best hotels in downtown Portland, Oregon. Tucked away along the Willamette River at the south end of Tom McCall Waterfront park, RiverPlace Hotel is a sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of downtown Portland without actually leaving the downtown area. See why RiverPlace is the perfect place to stay with your family the next time you visit Portland, Oregon.

The RiverPlace Hotel is a beautiful hotel tucked way right along on the Willamette river in downtown Portland, Oregon. This hotel is an ideal place to stay anytime you are in town, especially if you are attending an event along the waterfront. Located just south of Tom McCall Waterfront Park in a quiet part of Portland, RiverPlace is a peaceful retreat, yet still in downtown.

The amenities at RiverPlace Hotel can not be beat. Inside each 350 square foot room you will find robes and a yoga mat inside the closet. In the bathroom are luxe bath products. Every room and suite has a pillow top mattress, TV with DVD player, Bose or Boston Acoustics sound station and mini bar featuring local and organic snacks. Not only does the minibar have snacks but it also has items you may have forgotten like a razor. The hotel staff provides turn down service, including making up the sofa bed if needed. I love the fact that I did not have to make up the sofa bed myself. On top of all of that there’s a bedtime butler who shows up at night with a cart full of treats including hot chocolate, candies, popcorn, dog treats, and books.

The amenities do not stop when you leave the room. Down in the lobby from 2 – 4 p.m. daily they offer a hot chocolate bar. Then from 5-6 p.m. daily they offer a wine hour in the lobby with wines from local wineries, beer, appetizers, and chocolate chip cookies. The cookies are freshly baked, and for the parents, there is peppermint schnapps to give the hot chocolate a kick!

For families or anyone who just needs extra space they offer one and two bedroom suites. One of those suites is the Grand Suite, an 1100 square foot suite with a living room with a wood burning fireplace, dining room, two bathrooms one of which features a jacuzzi tub, and master bedroom. The suite offers panoramic views of the Willamette river and parts of Portland including Tom McCall Waterfront Park. How would you like up to that view while staying in Portland?

RiverPlace teepeesTeepees for Kids!

For children they offer a camping option where a teepee will be set up in your room along with the fixings for hot chocolate in the winter or s’mores in the summer. This is offered at no additional cost as long as they are available. Also for children is a selection of complimentary movie rentals.

Bedtime Butler

Have you heard about Kimpton’s Bedtime Butler? I do not think all Kimpton hotels have a bedtime butler, but RiverFront Place does! This is a staff member that goes room to room with a cart full of goodies. The night she came by our room she had popcorn, candies, hot chocolate, schnapps, kid’s books, dog treats, and more. It is hard for me to put into words how happy it made me for someone to deliver hot chocolate with schnapps to me. I didn’t cry or anything, but I almost did.

Three Degrees Waterfront Grill

RiverPlace happens to also be the home of Three Degrees Waterfront Grill an amazing Portland restaurant. You can dine at the restaurant or have room service delivered to your room. In the dining room you can enjoy sweeping views of the Willamette river while you feast on a perfectly cooked steak. Everyday from 4 -6 Pm they offer happy hour in their bar. Kids are allowed in certain parts of the bar area, so don’t let the kids stop you from indulging in happy hour! They have specials on fried pickles, french fries, and the cocktail of the day for $5. If you are there on a Sunday they have $2 tacos.
