I’m probably one of the few women who hasn’t read the “Twilight” books or raced off to see the movies. Both my daughters are “Twilight” fans, so my husband and I stopped in the town of Forks, Washington, to see what all the fuss is about. Forks is located 132 miles from Seattle, which includes a ferry ride.

The filming of the movies took place mostly in Oregon and BC, but that doesn’t deter “Twilight” fans. In talking to a woman at the Forks Chamber of Commerce, the books and movies brought over 70,000 visitors to town last year. The Chamber offers a map with descriptions such as “Go to Swan House at 775 K St.” There is a sign out front that reads ‘Home of the Swans.’ Bella’s bedroom is on the top floor, and you are welcome to take pictures next to the sign in the driveway.” Whew!! People drive all over Forks taking their pictures at various locations mentioned in the books.

If you have daughters or granddaughters, they’ll be thrilled to visit this tiny town where all the “Twilight” thrills supposedly take place. After visiting Forks, get back in the RV and head for an assortment of RV camping spots on the Olympic Peninsula. You’ll find amazing trails through rain forests, sandy beaches and hikes to waterfalls. Just watch out for werewolves!
