Last month, my family had the pleasure of visiting Attitash Mountain Resort in Bartlett, New Hampshire. Their summer season is packed with a wide variety of activities for all ages. With activities in fall and spring, and of course a great ski season, Attitash Mountain Resort provides the opportunity for year round fun. We can’t wait to return!

In summer, the main ski mountain turns into a huge adventure zone. Attractions include:

  • Alpine slide
  • Mountain coaster
  • Water slides
  • Kiddie splash park
  • Air bag jump
  • Euro-Bungy trampoline
  • Climbing wall
  • Zip tour
  • Mountain Biking
  • Horse Riding

Activity passes are $49 for the day. Zip Tour are $70.  You can do a combo that includes both for $105. Fall hours switch to weekends after Labor Day thru & includes Columbus Day.  10am -4pm.  Water attractions, EuroBungy and the rock climbing wall go away and prices change to $30 for adults and $20 for those under 48″ tall.

We had one day to explore the mountain so we focused on our favorite activities. Here’s a run down of our adventurous day.

Zip Tour

Reaching speeds of up to 65+ mph and heights up to 250 feet in the air, this is by far the most thrilling ride on the mountain. The zip line is nearly 5,000 feet long. That is nearly a mile and the longest zipline in the east. The entire experience is about 1-2 hours depending on group size. We were lucky to go up in our own group of four.

The adventure starts with a safety briefing, equipment check and then a test run on a small zip line at the mountain base. Next, you’ll take a shuttle over to Bear Peak for a scenic chairlift to the zipline. The view is amazing and the ride is jaw dropping. My son is 13 and he fearlessly went first with my husband. My daughter was super nervous, but she overcame her fear and went for it. I LOVED every minute of it. What a blast!

Alpine Slide

The alpine slide has been a Attitash guest favorite for 40 years. Two slides wind over more than a mile of tracks providing thrills for all riders. Guests ride up the Flying Yankee Quad chairlift to begin this exciting journey down rolling slopes, speedy straightaways and challenging S-turns underneath the lift. The entire family loved the ride. We went on again and again. The lines can get a bit long, but it moves fast with the speedy chair lift. I rode an alpine slide in New York for years when I was a kid so this brought back fond memories.

Mountain Coaster

The Nor’Easter Mountain Coaster is a downhill roller coaster ride through the forest. The ride up is almost as fun as the ride down. The experience begins with a scenic 1,420-foot trip up the mountain. It’s a beautiful ride through the trees as you watch coasters zip below and around you. When it’s your turn, the coaster is a heart-pounding 2,880-foot journey down through the forest.

Riders can control their speed with handheld brakes. The ride says the top speed is about 25 miles per hour, but it certainly feels faster. Riders descend on two stainless steel rails through banked curves, dips and a helix. The carts are big enough for two so younger riders can accompany a parent. This is the ride where my 11 year old daughter is the speed demon. She barely uses the breaks the entire time.

TravelingMom Tip – During the busy season, the Mountain Coaster lines can get quite long. I recommend heading there first to get in a few rides before the lines build up. We had to wait over 30 minutes each time.

Airbag Jump

The airbag jump is designed to give you a soft landing, similar to what you may see in the movies. You jump into a 60-by-60 foot airbag from two different platforms. You need to prove that you can land correctly on the lower platform in order to step up to the higher one. My son said he felt like a cool stunt man. He jumped five times. We had to pry him away to go get some lunch.

Euro-Bungy

A harness, connected by bungee cords, allows you to jump, flip, and soar over two stories high on the Euro-Bungy Trampolines.  Four trampolines are set up to accommodate four different jumpers. The day we were there, only two trampolines were open so the line was a little long, but my daughter still loved it. As a former gymnast, trampolines are one of her favorite activities. She loves how high she can get on the Euro-Bungy.

Fall Attractions

If you are in the area in October, Attitash has a huge Oktoberfest that is fun for all. They are in their 19th year of this event, with traditional German fare, music, beer, family activities and more.

We can’t wait to return in the fall. Fall foliage in the White Mountains is truly spectacular and Attitash Mountain Resort is in the heart of it. The Zipline, Mountain Coaster and Alpine slide are all ways to take in the beautiful color that surrounds you.

Winter at Attitash

During the winter months, Attitash offers skiing and snowboarding on 68 trails across two mountain peaks.  Attitash typically opens the day after Thanksgiving and closes the first weekend in April.  Lift tickets are combined with nearby Wildcat mountain. Attitash also offers ski school lessons, children’s programs, special events, and live music weekly.

We highly recommend a visit to Attitash Mountain Resort. It was fun for the entire family. We can’t wait to return to try the other activities we did not have a chance to experience. My husband wants to mountain bike and my kids and I want to try horseback riding.

See what other TravelingMoms have to say about their visits to New Hampshire’s White Mountains.

Now this sounds like a vacation that I would really enjoy. We’ve gone to Florida almost every year but now that the kids are getting older I think it’s time to do something different. We enjoy being active and outdoors, definitely adding this to our to-do list! Thanks for sharing!

This looks like a lovely place for a family vacation. I would like to visit during the summer as I don’t really enjoy winter sports. Unless sipping a spiked hot toddy by the fireplace counts.
