My family and I have a policy of not repeating destinations, but Vermont managed to make us change our minds. We decided to return once more for a winter vacation at Pet Friendly Cabin Rentals. It ended up being an amazing experience at a small farm near the largest resorts of the area. But the best part was that the place is pet friendly. So my puppy was able to come along.
Pet Friendly Cabin Rentals in Vermont
Before I start narrating my experience I want you to close your eyes and start imagining what your perfect winter wonderland would look like.
I am almost 100% sure that the image in your head is a lot like the picture I have above. This is something that comes to mind for me as either as my first or second image (after big pine trees covered in snow).
The photo was taken in Vermont, one of the only states in the US that made me break my own rule about not repeating destinations. I have visited at least five times and plan on returning to Vermont again and again. But it’s not just one of my favorite wither places in winter. It is also magical throughout all four seasons.
A State for All Seasons
The last time I took my family for a vacation in Vermont was during the summer months. I made sure that our time was filled with all sorts of fun outdoor activities.
As much as I love the region, I have been hesitant – almost resistant – to take my family to Vermont during the winter months. Mainly because I haven’t been there during that season in over 15 years. Since that time, I haven’t experienced snowy winter weather. In Guatemala, where I live, winter means a rainy but warm season. Iced up windshields and shoveling never ending snow from my driveway were distant memories for me.
But my sons, who have never seen snow in their lives, kept on begging me to choose a snowy place for our next vacation. The time had finally arrived.
For this adventure, I decided to go all the way! I decided that instead of making it another normal family trip, I would also take our dog with us.
Traveling With Pets
This led me to find out how different it is to travel with pets. It is literally a whole different ball game. It is crucial to find pet friendly places.
For this I decided to go to Airbnb. Luckily they had a ton of amazing Vermont Pet Friendly Cabin Rentals. And that’s exactly how I found our little slice of heaven.
Vermont Cabin Rentals – Our Small Vermont Farm
One of my main goals when choosing a vacation rental was finding one that was located close to both Stowe Mountain Resort and Smugglers Notch Resort because that’s where my parents were staying and that’s where we were going to be skiing and snowboarding.
I ended up finding the cutest cottage located on a genuine Vermont farm. Of course, it was pet friendly. After looking at the layout I discovered that it was also great for families. It seemed like it was taken out of a book.
The fact that we got the right amount of snowfall every time helped a WHOLE lot!!! It was just perfect!
Once we got there, we were able to meet the owners, Carole and Tom. They were both super sweet. They were always on hand in case we needed anything and took the time to show me a little perk about staying on the property which is a gorgeous farm – Stony Brook Farm.
The best part is that we got the whole view of the farm (located on the backyard) from the kitchen window.
All About Stony Brook Farm
The farm that is part of the property where we were staying is called Stony Brook Farm, but the owners call it a homestead. It is an organic farm. If you stay here during the summer and fall months you will be able to see all of the livestock running around. In some cases you can even interact with them. I couldn’t stop watching the goats. Who knew I even liked goats?
About the Cottage
The cottage has a capacity for up to four people. It includes one bathroom and two bedrooms, a patio and pets are allowed. This made it perfect for my five member family (including our puppy).
It was fully furnished and even included a small dog cradle for our pet to be comfortable.
Smoking is not allowed, so there were no weird smells. Another big plus for me!
If you are coming to Vermont this is a cottage you might want to consider as your lodging. The place is extremely comfortable and near all of the major attractions of the region.
Plus if you come here for the other seasons, you can also ride bikes all around the country roads and enjoy the magic of Vermont’s foliage.
It was the perfect family getaway!
