While planning and researching for our upcoming trip to Burlington, Vermont I knew that I wanted my family to stay in a hotel located in the middle of all the fun! After a lot of research, I decided to book a room at Hilton Garden Inn in downtown Burlington. It is only five minutes away, on foot, from everything I wanted my family to visit in the area and had a swimming pool for my boys.

After visiting Burlington, Vermont, I must say that it scored really high on our scale of the most quaint and cute cities that we have visited in New England. I also discovered that one of the best ways to experience everything it has to offer is to stay in a central area. This will allow you to have everything at walking distance.

I am so glad that even before knowing this, one of my main search criteria while looking for hotels in Burlington was to find a place in the heart of it all, meaning Lake Champlain, Church Street promenade, Main Street and Vermont University. I knew I wanted to visit them for sure!

TMOM disclosure graphicI did a thorough search, during which the Hilton Garden Inn Burlington kept popping up over and over again. I had to check it out and it had great reviews, plus its location was just perfect. However, the swimming pool was what sealed the deal.

Why the Hilton Garden Inn Burlington is a Great Family Hotel in the Heart of Burlington

Interesting and fun facts – This particular Hilton Inn is one of the newest hotels in Burlington; however, it is located in one of the oldest buildings the area.

The main building goes back as far as 1904. It used to be an armory, that’s where the name of its main restaurant comes from – Armory Grille and Bar. The rest of the hotel is a new building attached to the old Armory one.

1. Driving – I don’t really like driving and being in a car so I always try not to use one whenever we travel. So I was relieved to leave the car with the valet as soon as we arrived. We weren’t going to use it again until we left the area.

2. Family Friendly – Most hotels that I found in the area are family friendly, but not all have pools where kids can spend some time. Burlington is a great place where you can visit restaurants, cafes and shops by walking. However kids aren’t very interested in doing that, so having a pool was a great too I could use to bribe them.

3. Convenience – You will find the hotel on Main Street. Everything is located five minutes away from it. You can easily walk to Church Street and enjoy its pedestrian promenade with tons of cafes, restaurants, bars and shops.

The most fun for my kids was the waterfront which was only three blocks away from the hotel. Lake Champlain just kept amazing us!

We also went on a stroll through University of Vermont’s campus. It is really interesting. Founded in 1791, the campus is beautiful and so green in the summertime.

Our Room Layout – Hilton Garden Inn Downtown Burlington

We had the double queen room. In it we found a fridge and microwave (100%necesary with kids). This was perfect for me; I was able to keep supplies to for my boys.

Aside having a full entertainment center with free wifi, we had a spacious desk as well.
