For our summer break my family and I visited Lancaster, Pennsylvania. One of the most different types of trips we’ve ever taken. Why? Because this time around, I got to travel with my extended family. My parents, my brother and his girlfriend, my sons and me. It was kind of a mini family reunion in PA.

With so many people added to the picture I had to find a hotel that would be good for my parents and for my kids too. I normally go after boutique hotels but this time I wanted something that could offer us all a smooth transition to traveling together.

Finding Hotels in Lancaster, PA

The truth is that I haven’t traveled with my parents in a long time. I remember that when we used to travel they would choose to stay in well known chain hotels and resorts but we had never stayed at a Hilton before.

I wanted to try something new and had read wonderful things about DoubleTree Hilton Resort so I chose that one.

Luckily for me, when we arrived I discovered that DoubleTree Lancaster Hilton Hotel was even better in real life than on their site.

First of all, it was way bigger than I expected. With a golf course! We didn’t have the time to enjoy the course, but we certainly were able to enjoy the great views that it provided.

The Hotel Layout

The reception area is quite large and the service is great.

But my favorite part was their tropical, closed garden. Winters can be pretty brutal in Lancaster but this way you can enjoy spaciousness and greenery year round.

Fun Fact – My boys were thrilled when we heard that DoubleTree in Lancaster has one of the largest pools in the area, there is even an awesome water playground.

The Room

My boys and I stayed in the family style – king suite. The main sitting area had a pull out coach that turned into a bed and also with a TV. We were there during the World Cup and it was a great place to catch up on the matches between attractions.

Separated by the bathroom, and coffee station was the master bedroom with a king sized bed. Also with a TV.

Breakfast Fun

Breakfast is one of my favorite meals to eat out especially when they are buffet style. The main restaurant in the hotel is Cafe 24 Hundred.

The buffet isn’t included in the price of the room, but is really affordable considering all that they offer: $12 per adult and $6 per child.

And I love when the staff has as much fun as the guests.
