As temperatures drop in Chicago, some restaurateurs are taking matters into their own hands. Now through September 2, anytime the thermometer dips 65 degrees or below, a special F° Summer menu item will be available at Rockit Burger Bar in Wrigleyville.
Each chilly day this summer, guests are invited to warm up with a cozy mug of Spiked Cider with apple cider, cinnamon, nutmeg, pumpkin pie spice, Revel Stoke Spiced Whiskey or Cruzan Spiced Rum.
Enjoy the cider with other toasty dishes like The Hottie with Black Angus patty, breaded stuffed jalapeños, habanero jack, ghost pepper aioli, served with French fries, Braised Beef Short Rib Mac & Cheese with four cheese mac, caramelized onions, gruyere or their Turkey Chili with red kidney beans, shredded cheese, cilantro.
Rockit Burger Bar is known for its playful menu. It just launched (no pun intended) a new doughnut milkshake and the BFD Burger (Breakfast for Dinner) on their brunch menu ~ it’s part of its “secret” menu so you’ll need to ask for it and only available on Saturdays and Sundays for now.
The doughnut shake can be ordered “virgin” (so the kids can enjoy!) or with a shot of Olives Triple Espresso (for us caffeine addicts to enjoy). It features a doughnut puree that is made from rendering down doughnuts into a sauce which is then added to a vanilla bean ice cream and milk and then blended together to make a shake. It’s garnished with 2 lemon glazed doughnut holes. The shake, we’re told, was created by one of its chefs who is obsessed with doughnuts.
BFD (Breakfast For Dinner) Burger ($14) includes a Black Angus patty, applewood smoked bacon, fried egg, Hook’s five year aged cheddar cheese and two glazed doughnuts.
We often bypass kids menus and bring our kids along to restaurants and food tours but Rockit Burger Bar does have a kids-only menu, is dog-friendly and the outdoor patio has a great view of Wrigley Field which will appeal to many families. For those who prefer to order off the regular menu for their offspring, there are plenty of choices for kids to enjoy from the popular MacDaddy Burger to flatbread pizzas. Vegetarians like Judy (aka Vegetarian TravelingMom) will be happy to see the appropriately named burger, “the vegetarian,” as well as several other veggie-happy dishes on the menu.
