With the Kansas City Royals in the World Series, baseball fans from all over will be flocking to this Midwestern city and looking for the best things to do with kids in Kansas City when they aren’t watching baseball.

Kansas City is unique in that it spans two Midwestern states – Missouri and Kansas, each quite different from the other. But both have plenty of great family-friendly attractions, restaurants and accommodations. The Great Wolf Lodge in Kansas City is on the Kansas side of the border, just 25 minutes from downtown and across the street from numerous restaurants and shops.

    Among Kansas City’s must-see attractions is Science City, located inside the nation’s second-largest working train station (behind Grand Central). More than 125 exhibits in 18 different environments offer plenty of hands-on family fun.

    Its convenient location in Kansas City puts the Holiday Inn Country Club Plaza near the Midwest’s premier shopping, dining and entertainment district.

    While best known for barbecue and baseball, Kansas City also has a plethora of family-friendly attractions and hotels.

    Voted the Most Popular Restaurant in Kansas City by Zagat in 2012, Fiorella’s Jack Stack Barbecue is a favorite with locals and visitors alike.
