Summer is the perfect time for a family visit to a theme park. Younger children might love the games and rides, while older children and adults might seek out the best roller coasters. Whatever the reason, families would be remiss to not include a visit to Holiday World in their summer travel plans. This themed amusement park located in Santa Claus, Indiana is different from many others. Here’s why amusement park fans won’t want to miss Holiday World in Indiana.
Our family had the opportunity to visit Holiday World on a road trip from Chicago and we were surprised by this Midwestern gem. The theme park has everything from roller coasters to a water park to Dole Whip! We learned a lot about different holidays along the way. It was a new destination for our family, but it’s one that quickly became a family favorite.
Why Amusement Park Fans Won’t Want to Miss Holiday World in Indiana
1. It’s unique
Holiday World is divided into four main sections: Halloween, Fourth of July, Christmas, and Thanksgiving. Each area of the park is decorated and themed accordingly. For example: In Thanksgiving there are rides such as the Mayflower, Turkey Whirl, and Gobbler Getaway. Food at the Plymouth Rock Café includes satisfying dishes such as turkey, mac and cheese, and cornbread. In the Christmas area, there is a constant medley of Christmas songs playing over the speakers which adds to the festive atmosphere. Rides include Prancer’s Merry-Go-Round and Reindeer Games. Santa Claus can be spotted strolling throughout the park and is available for photos.

2. It’s clean
Clean theme parks can be hard to find, but Holiday World does not disappoint. From the staff, to the lack of trash, to the well maintained rides, Holiday World keeps the park spic and span. This is appealing for so many reasons and not only did the adults notice it, the kids did as well.
3. They care about food allergies
Holiday World goes above and beyond when it comes to food allergies. There is an allergen-friendly menu guide that addresses the most common allergens and gives food options for those with food allergies. Gluten free menus are available as well. As the parent of a child with a peanut/tree nut allergy, I know this is much appreciated!
4. There’s free stuff
This is not a joke. Holiday World not only offers free parking for guests, there is also free sunscreen available as well as free soft drinks. There are drink kiosks located around the park and guests simply need to grab a cup and fill it up. Guests will also enjoy free wi fi throughout the park to communicate and share photos.
5. There’s a massive waterpark included in admission
Splashin’ Safari is adjacent to Holiday World. It is home to the world’s longest water roller coaster, Mammoth Water Coaster. Admission to the water park is included with admission to Holiday World. There are various water slides, a giant water play area known as Monsoon Lagoon, and a wave pool. Kids will spend hours here so plan time accordingly. Be sure to bring swimsuits and towels, or plan on buying them in the on-site store. There are lockers available for storage and restaurants in this area as well.
6. Awesome rides and roller coasters
Children of all ages can enjoy a variety of rides from “child” to “mild” to “wild.” Some of the favorites include Comet’s Rockets and Tippecanoes for the little ones. Older kids who don’t like the hard core coasters might enjoy the HallowSwings, Raging Rapids, and Turkey Whirl. If those still aren’t thrilling enough, be sure to try The Raven, The Legend, and The Thunderbird Steel Roller Coaster. All of them will have roller coaster lovers begging for another run.
7. Designated play area for youngsters
Holiday World has a designated play area for little ones called Holidog’s FunTown. The water park has a huge water park area called SafariSam’s SplashLand. All of the rides and activities are age appropriate. These areas are great for parents because they don’t need to worry about their little ones being run over by the big kids!
Holiday World was a nice surprise. With all of the free perks, friendly staff, and clean facilities, it’s easy to see why people return year after year. We loved every minute of our visit and the kids can’t wait to return again!
