Missouri state fairYes folks this summer has flown by and it is time again to gather for the 110th Annual Missouri State Fair. This year the Missouri State Fair has a new theme going “Celebrate THEN & WOW!” Can you imagine what the fair must have been like 50, 75, or even 110 years ago? However, what is even more jaw dropping is what is happening at the Missouri State Fair NOW.If an event makes it 110 years you know it has to be fabulous and from a Mom who drove half way across the state last year with her 2 kids strapped in the back seat of her car just to see what the Missouri State Fair is all about, I can say it is!

The NEW & WOW at the Missouri State Fair

This year the Missouri State Fair has welcomed New FREE Entertainment that is right folks I said FREE! Catch the World Famous Budweiser Clydesdales, the gentle giants travel all across the county proudly representing one of America’s Beer favorite , but this year they will be happily showing themselves off at the Missouri State Fair.

Sea Lion Splash, have you seen a more adorable animal than Sea Lions gracefully showing themselves off? Well I have not, and not only are they adorable, but kids can stand and watch them for hours! This year the Sea Lions will be entertaining and amusing children of all ages inside the Kid Zone West of Ag Building.

See the Circus Be the Circus, an interactive cirque style show that gives children the opportunity to join! Okay, seriously laugh now, but I have always wanted to be in a circus, I personally believe I have great talents to display.

Nerveless Nocks, are you a thrill seeker? Do you have a thrill seeker in you bunch?   New to the Missouri State Fair is the troupe of world champion thrill performers from Bern, Switzerland. These dare devil acrobatics is sure the knock your socks off with excitement, or give you a taste of their adrenaline rush.

The Traditional, but Fabulous Fair

There are so many traditions at the Missouri State Fair that even after 110 years are still Fair Fabulous. One of Missouri’s favorites are the 4-H and FFA buildings. Giving youth a creative way to learn leadership, develop character, and see the rewards of hard work. In these building, you can find exhibits from vegetables to a Chicken Barbecue Contest, all put together by Missouri’s Youth.

Agriculture Judging, this has to be a fair tradition everywhere, but nonetheless it is an American favorite. If you have any agriculture, background you know the long lasting fight between farming neighbors over whose livestock is better! If you have not had the opportunity to listen to farmers discuss whose cow is prettier, and then the Agriculture Judging is something you may not want to miss. Yearly farms from across the state bring well over 30,000 entries to the Missouri State Fair for this annual competition.

Pepsi Grandstand & State Fair Arena Entertainment- Truck Pulls, Tractor Pulls, Larry the Cable Guy, Hank Williams Jr., and the MRCA Finals Rodeo you are sure to find some fun nightly entertainment at the Missouri State Fair. Tickets must be purchased for each of these events.

Carnival Rides- What is a fair without the Carnival Rides, I am not sure what it is then? You can find unique and the classic fair traditions. I can personally say there is no view like the view from the top of Ferris wheel at the Missouri State Fair. Carnival rides are never cheap, I know I just dropped $40 last week at our local town festival, however, you can find special carnival deals on the fair website.

Fair Food– You can never leave out FAIR FOOD, from fried Oreos, funnel cakes, to some of the unusual stuff I have seen like fried grasshoppers….no matter what Fair Food is Fair Food and the Missouri State Fair has 110 years worth of experience on it.

The 110th Annual Missouri State Fair kicks off August 9th and runs until August 19th 2012 in Sedalia, MO.

Have an Adventurous Day!
