When it comes to a luxury spring break destination for families, the list of places to go can be as varied as our families are. Some families are all about that last ski vacation. If this describes your family, the Montage Deer Valley is highly recommended.
On the other hand, my family is all about the warm weather and beach life so the Caribbean is more our style. I need a clear waters, a spa, kids club, luxe rooms and different dining options. I’ve included two sandy beach destinations that hit all the items on my checklist for kid-friendly luxury.
The most important thing is that, wherever you head, you don’t worry about the college student spring breakers. It’s more likely that they’re headed Daytona, Jamaica, or South Padre Island than the places on our list. We’ve picked out a few of our favorite places for a luxury spring break and provided a starting point for locations your family will love.
1. Ski Spring Break at the Montage Deer Valley, Park City, Utah
Make your last ski vacation your best of the season with spring break skiing during a stay at the Montage Deer Valley, Utah. Montage Deer Valley is an award-winning resort in all areas. While its awards range from Best Family Program to America’s #1 ski resort, there are indoor and outdoor activities that can fit every level of skier and member of the family. Guests have easy ski-in, ski-out access to adjacent Deer Valley Resort.
Families can choose from accommodations ranging from guestrooms and suites ranging from one to four bedrooms. In addition to a 24 hour in-room dining menu, Montage Deer Valley is home to six unique dining concepts, including a pub with bowling, billiards and arcade games for an active nightlife once the ski day is over.
Multi-generational families can select from specially designed Montage Generation programs that gather all members of the family together for distinctive experiences. Moonlight night hikes, art classes and cooking classes are just a few of the options.
2. Kid Friendly Luxury at Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita, Riviera Nayarit, Mexico
For families who want to work on their Spanish, Mexico is always a popular spring break spot. Skip Cancun and head to the Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita does not disappoint. Families can take advantage of not only beautiful beaches but the resort offers water sports, arts and crafts and jungle activities. It has a unique claim to fame as the only resort in the world with a cultural concierge. The cultural concierge hosts daily Spanish lessons and weekly activities focused on the local/historical culture.
Four Seasons Punta Mita is a spring break destination where all members of the family can have a vacation. Tennis, golf, surfing, the lazy river pool, a game room, spa and adults only pool complex – this resort has it all covered. Not to mention the complimentary Kids For All Seasons childcare program. Kids will play on the coast collecting shells, hiking and have the opportunity to make Mexican-style art. While parents can get a break and check out the nightlife on the resort.
While there are plenty of excursions for any interest, the most unique is their exclusive Ultimate Tequila Tour. Guests will fly via private helicopter to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Jose Cuervo distillery, experience a behind-the-scenes demonstration of the tequila-making process and tasting. Don’t count out the big cities for a spring break trip. The bright lights (and shopping dreams) of New York are a huge draw for lots of tween/teens, so why not indulge their wishes with a spring break trip?
