Learning to Love Winter, Thanks to the Inn and Pocono Manor

I wasn’t much of a winter traveler until I had kids. I used to prefer to stay bundled up next to a fire, sipping on coffee, and looking at the snow fall from inside. But then I had kids. For the past five years, we have gone on a family snowboarding trip. To my surprise, it has become one of my favorite times of the year.

We were recently hosted at The Inn at Pocono Manor with our friend Linda, Foodie TravelingMom, and her family. She has two boys the same ages as mine, so they are the perfect family to travel with. We had the opportunity to enjoy the Inn’s property and participate in lots of winter fun in the Poconos.

The Inn at Pocono Manor is located in the heart of the Poconos Mountains. It’s close to Jack Frost and Big Boulder (about 20 minutes away). The resort has an old world ambiance and is nice and cozy.  Beyond the slopes, there were plenty of fun winter things to do right at the resort.

Arcade and Game Room

The boys loved the lower level of the Inn because it had an arcade and game room. When we were at the resort, we spent a lot of time here. Right across from the arcade was a spacious room with big leather seats, a bar, and television. The adults hung out watching the football game while the kids played. There weren’t a ton of people in this area, which worked out perfectly since our boys are never quiet!

The game room has a ping pong table, pool table, foosball, building blocks, small movie theater, and board games. It kept the kids busy for quite some time.

Indoor Pool

There’s a small indoor pool located on the lower level of the resort. Kids love swimming no matter the time of the year.

TravelingMom Tip: Bring a ball or toys the kids can use in the pool. There wasn’t anything available for them to play with. Next time we’ll be more prepared.

Manor Sports

On the second day, we ventured off to Manor Sports, which is located on property. You can walk there in about 15 minutes. But, since it was cold and snowy, we drove down.

We were a little bummed because some of the winter activities we wanted to try, like ice fishing and snowmobiling, were closed because there wasn’t enough snow. But there were still plenty of fun things to do. Everyone is welcome at Manor Sports whether you are a guest of the hotel or an outside customer looking for a day of adventure.

If you stay on property some of the winter fun is included–BB guns, Ice Fishing, Ice Skating, and Snowshoeing.
