You know that moment when you open the door to your family friendly hotel room for the first time and you start doing the happy dance when you see how awesome your room is? Well, that is exactly what happened when I opened the door to our beautiful room at Summit Lodge and Spa in Whistler, B.C. Here’s why:
A beautiful oversized room
2 queen beds, plus a pull out sofa
A kitchenette and fireplace
Our excitement did not stop there; this boutique hotel was loaded with other amenities that we enjoyed, like a drying line in the bathroom. When I am trying to dry bathing suits and wet ski clothes, a drying line is a huge help. There was also a laundry room. Another amenity that makes them stand out from a standard hotel: huge bottles of shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and body wash. We are a family of five. If we forget shampoo (like I did on this trip), we are going to need more than a tiny bottle of shampoo.
Overall I felt like the hotel was ready to meet every need of a family without even asking. These particular amenities are what made are stay so wonderful. Especially the ski-check, which was great for this mom traveling alone with her three kids.
- Complimentary ski check
- Heated pool, hot tub, and a sauna
- Free shuttle to the base of the mountain
- Complimentary hot chocolate bar every afternoon
- Complimentary coffee drinks all day on their latte machine in the lobby
The location is on Main Street in the heart of Whistler Village surround by restaurants including an onsite restaurant Elements. Elements is currently the most popular place in Whistler to grab breakfast. I ate there one morning and I thought it was too expensive and overrated.
Also, nearby is a grocery store, liquor store (It closes early – I found out the hard way), and a pharmacy. Right across the street was Olympic Plaza, with a playground and free ice skating.
