Construction at Disneyland is well under way, but you don’t have to wait for the new Star Wars-themed land to open for the Force to be with you! Disney has added a ton of Star Wars magic to Tomorrowland to help transport guests to a galaxy far, far away. From souvenirs to thrill rides, from video games to space-themed cheesecake, here are seven ways to experience Star Wars on your next visit to Disneyland.

Experience Star Wars at Disneyland

On our recent visit to Disneyland, we were amazed (but not surprised) to see how seamlessly Disney has woven Star Wars theming into the park. While Star Wars Land is still a few years off, way on the other side of the park Tomorrowland has everything a person needs to get their Star Wars fix.

Star Wars Launch Bay

Housed in the building formerly known as Innoventions, Star Wars Launch Bay is a haven for Star Wars fans. Check out immersive displays and movie props, play games, and screen exclusive videos. Meet Darth Vader, Chewbacca, and many other Star Wars heroes and villains.

Plus, join the Star Wars action when you play the latest version of the popular Disney Infinity video game—Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition—which features an exclusive Toy Box built just for Star Wars Launch Bay.

Tomorrowland Rides…Reimagined

Space Mountain has always been one of the best rides at Disneyland, but with Hyperspace Mountain they have hit it out of the park. Star Wars has taken over the classic high-speed, in-the-dark, outer space adventure.

While the track hasn’t changed, the overlay of audio and visuals has transformed the ride into an epic adventure. The coaster even dodges through a barrage of red and green blaster fire as you race through a raging fight between Rebel X-wing starfighters and Imperial TIE fighters. This is a super exciting addition to the park and clearly my son’s favorite ride at Disneyland.

Also updated for the Star Wars invasion is Star Tours – The Adventures Continue. If you haven’t ridden it, Star Tours is a 3D, motion-simulated space flight. While the ride has always been about Star Wars, Disney has upped the ante here too by adding a new location to the virtual ride from the movie Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Featuring state-of-the-art technology, including a flight simulator, digital 3D video, Audio-Animatronics characters and “in cockpit” special effects and music, Star Tours immerses you in the Star Wars world. Disney has even added new and different adventures with multiple story combinations and characters from the movies, so riders can enjoy a unique adventure almost every time.

Star Wars: Path of the Jedi

Catch this new short film at the Tomorrowland Theater (former home of Honey I Shrunk the Audience and Michael Jackson’s Captain EO). This 10-minute film intertwines scenes from all of the Star Wars movies from the 1970s through 2016’s The Force Awakens, so if it’s a great refresher! The film compiles all the exciting moments to tell Luke Skywalker’s story.

Shop Star Wars at Disneyland

Tomorrowland’s signature retail shop Star Traders is a haven for shoppers who love Star Wars gear. Stop in and discover limited edition collectibles, clothing, accessories, backpacks, phone cases, gifts and more.

Star Wars Dining

Embark on a culinary adventure at Tomorrowland’s two counter service restaurants, both now featuring out-of-this world Star Wars menu items.

Built on the site of Disneyland’s original “Rocket to the Moon” attraction, Redd Rockett’s Pizza Port has always been a space-themed eatery. But now Disney has added some Star Wars flare to the menu. There are pasta, pizza and salad stations serving up Mars-inara spaghetti with meatballs, Count-Down Chicken Fusilli, Celestial Caesar Chicken, and slices of Mega Pepperoni, Lunar Cheese and Venus Vegetarian pizza.

Even the desserts have taken a galactic turn! We got a huge kick out of the fun names, including Chewbacca Cheesecake and Darth by Chocolate.

Across the way, the Galactic Grill features traditional theme park fare with Star Wars names – including the First Order Burger, Cheese-3PO Burger, Jawa Turkey Sandwich and a Chopper Salad.

Jedi Training

This popular, interactive experience has been updated and renamed Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple. Kids are selected from the audience to participate and encounter Star Wars villains such as Darth Vader and the Seventh Sister Inquisitor from the Disney XD series “Star Wars Rebels.” The show takes place right next to the Galactic Grill, so you can munch on your fries while enjoying the show.

Press a Penny

My son has been a pressed penny collector for many years. In fact every time we visit somewhere new I make sure to have quarters with me! So it was good news to discover that Disneyland has debuted Star Wars pressed pennies so we can add them to the vast collection!

Six new Star Wars-inspired pressed coin designs featuring various characters from the new movie are now available. You’ll find these new pressed coin machines inside Star Trader in Tomorrowland.

At just 76 cents (yes you need three quarters for these, not the usual two) this might just be the most budget-friendly souvenir around!
